Nbcdnzr, the dragon was slain, and there was much rejoicing Posted Aug 5, 2002
You know what I can really do without? It Goes like this: I'm walkin/cycling in the city, just minding my own business. Then I see a couple of guys coming my way, and I just know what they are going to do. The one closest to me is going to fake jumping in front of me whilst shouting something totally stupid. This rangest from the ordinary "Boo!" to anything a retard would be able to think up that could startle people, nothing more complicated than "Blwah!" Why, WHY! Do they do this? I honestly feel I should be allowed to carry a baseball bat with me in case such a thing happens and hit them in the back of their heads after they do that.
Does this thing happen to anyone else?

I spent a while thinking that was a genuine message of support, before realising it was an example
Personally, if anyone says 'Nicely' to me one more time (except in the context of a production of Guys and Dolls), I am liable to hit them. Mind you, it was the catchphrase of my ex-best-friend that ran off with my girlfriend

I despise people talking about win-win situations. They usually mean two fat cats will win at the poor mans expense.

Although methodology does have a sensible meaning, to refer to a group of related methods.

When I was at college, we were taught one course by a man of 'Arabic' descent (I don't know exactly where he came from, but it was somewhere in the 'Middle East'). He kept pronouncing 'methodology' as 'mythology'. In retrospect, he was probably right but, at the time, we applied pressure on the college to get us a lecturer who could speak intelligible English.

Having just dragged this computer through yet another figurative sheep-dip, I typed a word (one I never want to hear again) into the Searchbox, just to see if anyone was giving advice.
Appropriately enough, up popped this thread (and a completely unrelated use of the word way back at Post #12 by Ictoan)
The word? Bugbear.
Avoid it.
