The renewed credit card I've received isn't activated until I ring the company to say I've got it. I presume there will be a security check when I make the call.

i certainly wont be tempted by any offers egg send me after reading all this. but to be honest i dont think any one else is any better.
just realised that my master card is due for renewal anyday.......better go to the bank and request it not be posted.

It was Goldfish. But I'm pretty sure I had the same wih my last Co-op bank card too.

Just a quick post to say I've received a letter from the ombudsman. Not much really, just to say they're looking into the complaint and will contact me within the next four weeks.

Had the results back from the ombudsman today. They've just recommended that I accept the £50 
They've got half the facts wrong. They say they can't penalise a company for mail going missing. The statements didn't go missing in the post, they were never sent in the first place!!
They say they don't compare my case with any others they judge each one on it's own merits. They then go on to say that £50 is no less than they would normally award in "a case such as mine", so they've just broken their own rule.
They seem to have ignored the fact that I had to go on holiday with no way of paying for anything.
I've just accepted the fifty quid I can't be bothered to argue anymore.

I'm kind of glad my credit cards are all insured with a specialist credit card insurer - I can phone up and have all or 1 stopped and they will sort out the cards being replaced and pick up the £50 excess maximum liability and tell me what to do if I am panicky (e.g. call the police and get a crime whatsit number and call us back and give it to us) and they will also sort out hoo-haa with credit card companies giving me the run around.
