Emmily, I wonder when the pavements and roads are going back to normal, today I had to wait an hour for a bus (both ways) to Lakeside and back.

My blue bin was emptied okay today but my upstairs neighbour put her paper rubbish (still was on the street) in after it had been emptied.

The Coachella Valley is famous for pleasant wintertime weather, for winds (spring and autumn) that blow 18 wheeler semi- truck and trailer rigs off the fwy, torrid season (June - August) temperatures that are usually between 43C/110F and 49C/120 (about like standing in front of conventional gas oven with the door open, but all around and all the time) and sometimes go as high as the 55C/130 to 61C/140F range.

While conditions are ideal for wintertime resort operations (snow on top of Mt. San Jacinto at 10834 feet and ready tramway access from Palm Springs) it is not a joke that torrid season conditions are so extreme that non native cacti dry up and die of dehydration and blow away on the autumn winds.

The weather is currently freezing my fingers off. But who needs fingers, anyway?

In London it's still pretty chilly - current temperature is around 0c and it's been hovering there for a few days now. And the wind chill makes it feel colder. But it's dry and bright.

yesterday was so windy here that the airport was closed and all flights diverted on the other islands. Chaos caused to arriving and departing holidaymakers.

Definitely more mild today..above freezing all day and this evening. My rock solid pond is finally melting properly in about a fortnight. But it's due to turn again next week.

No idea what the temp. is, OH looks at that, not me. But it was warmer (what is now yesterday), the ice on the pavements is melting

Kat, pavements are finally clearing now, though a heavy rain shower would help. I've not been to Lakeside for ages, I'm hoping to go there soon, though Michael's not keen on driving me there (he usually drops me off, then picks me up when I phone to let him know I'm ready to come home). I sent him to Tesco to get food about this time last year, he was stuck in traffic for two hours, he's not forgotten (or forgiven ) I'll have to use my charm on him yeah, right

The temperature now is 5°C but feels more like 2°C and there have been bright/sunny spells this afternoon.

Emmily I am glad that all the frozen snow has gone from the pavements now. I thought waiting for an hour to go to Lakeside was a long time but today I waited one and half hours for the number 11 bus and for some reason they cut one out.

Never been stuck in a traffic jam on a bus no more than 10 minutes and at Ford Place and around Lakeside shopping centre.
