Hot and clear today, everyone's looking for the shady spots at busstops. Not much wind until now, it's a cool, light onshore breeze. This particular nearby wildfire isn't doing too much to the high particulates count; I can still breathe pretty good and the sunsets are unremarkable.
Five days ago, Fri 16, the weather was totally windless humid warm and covered with buttermilk clouds, earthquake weather. My cats were poinging and careening through the place, so I though we'd get one. No tremors though, just the wildfire.
Sunflowers and hollyhocks going wild in the heat, brightening up the back of the border and really looming in soft pinks and screaming yellow. I did some coleus from seed and they are growing huge and trying to bloom. Nights are now sufficiently warm a few caladiums in a nearby bed are poking their noses out after long dormancy.

*super hazy - have had 2 'ozone alert' days (the air quality gets worse on hot days & the Environmental Protection Agency will fine the city if the quality rating slips to a certain point)
*supposed to rain & cool things off for the weekend (yay!)

Friday night July 23, 04 Raining, the prediction is terrential rain, thunderstorm etc. Guess better turn the computer down, look for the flash lights. This is the rainiest summer I ever saw. Blue Bird.
