"Do people really confuse British and Australian accents?"

I was born and bought up in London, I have an accent like Sharon from Eastenders, I was once mistaken for a New Zealander, BY a New Zealander

I've been mistaken for an Australian in the US. He did all that 'G'day cobber' bit as well.

I've also been asked which part of South Africa I'm from, by a South African but he was extremely drunk at the time

"You want English actors cast as good guys? How about Stephen Fry playing Oscar Wilde in "Wilde"? "

Never mind that Wilde was Irish...

See you can't cast an Englishman as the good guy. He'd solve the problem in about half an hour with as little casualities as possible... that's why British series are shorter than the American counterparts. If they cast Americans in Auf Weidersehen pet, they'd take about four times as long!!!

Better still make the American's watch the original Auf Weidersehen Pet, without subtitles smiley - evilgrin

Am I the only person that doesn't have trouble with regioanl accents? Except Glasgie, but that doesn't count.

I am reminded of an Indian colleague of my father's, who asked if he was worried about India being invaded by Russia (this was at the time of Afghanistan, replied 'Not at all. Why would the Russians want to invade a country of 500 million illiterate morons.'

I feel much the same way about reclaiming America.

I don't see why it should. It wasn't started as such and I responded with a joke.

WWWA wasn't started as such either...

And I know it's a joke. And everytime I see that American Idol is the most popular show on TV I know it's true.

I was just making a comment... I forgot my smiley - winkeye, sorry.

There is too much anti-Americanism in the world...and it's all Americas fault

Rubbish! Britain *is* America.

It was a rebellion by British citizens abroad against a German King and his unfair tax and representation policies smiley - smiley

smiley - musicalnote One rebellion, one World Cup and two World Wars. Doo-dah, doo-dah... smiley - musicalnote

OK, so that doesn't scan any more...
