As one of h2g2's token gays I must say that I'm staggered that this conversation had 122 new posts!

I'd drink Rolf's...

Nah, maybe not. But I did cry when he did 'Two Little Boys' at Glasto '93. He blew Velvet Underground out of the water.

Well I'b gobsmacked. The stand out songs didn't get through most of the ten that did I don't remember this morning.

Bulgaria yeah like the drumming.

However, I voted for Isreal, Belarus and Denmark. One out of three. What would Meatloaf say? smiley - wah

fords you couldn't vote for Scooch anyway unless you are planning to take Towel day out of the country by voting time this year.

Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.)

I had a Eurovision dream last week!

In the dream, France had done a fantastic, epic song which got a ten minute standing ovation. Then the UK entry came on. It wasn't actually Scooch in the dream, but it was every bit as awful.

And the UK won.

smiley - erm Actually, maybe it was more of a Father Ted dream.

The acts I thought would get through last night (Israel, Andorra, Denmark, Switzerland) didn't. That's what I love about Eurovision, you can watch it year in year out and still have no idea how the voting will go!

I am going to miss the main event, because I will be on a boat this weekend, and I forgot to set the video smiley - wah. Does anyone know whether it's available on replay through Homechoice/Tiscali TV - my set top box is broken at the mo so I can't check.

P.S. - What was "lesbian funnygirl" Sue Perkins doing singing for Latvia?

Great - I'm hoping to be able to find a pub to watch the last part of it on Saturday night, but it's always good to have a back up plan!

Someone asked a while back if Apocalyptica was playing on the final. The answer is yes, they're part of the interval act.

Apparently the qualifiers yesterday are a good indicator for the final placings tomorrow ... Am I the only person here who hasn't yet seen/heard a single entry yet (including the UK's)?

Hmmm, so do you know approximatly when Apocalyptica will be on? And if perhaps Nightwish or any other decent finnish bands will be there?

My best guess would be about 2 hours in, if they're doing the interval why we vote.

Well, Lordi starts the show but other than that, no other Finnish bands. The interval is after the recaps of the songs, so once the last entry has been performed, you have about fifteen minutes to spare.

What's your predictions for the UK entry then? I'm thinking about mid-table but our family all agree that in the event of getting a 'nil pointer' the UK should withdraw funding for the show. As discussed above, it's difficult to predict the placings of songs; a few years back I devised a cunning 'get rich quick' scheme where I would listen to the songs and pick out the songs I thought would do well with a view to splashing some £££ at the bookies. Luckily I found out how hard it is to predict a winner before I put any money on!

Looks like there's more interest in the competition this year on H2 than in previous years. Mu Beta will have his hands full if he's doing his article thing this year. Me and the ewif are going to hit the booze tonight (probably the best - if only - way to enjoy the show). I expect I'll pop on H2 to report on any song I think is blatant plagiarism.
