With all due respect to those who like modern bands, but I have been watching the Elecric Proms mainly from the Roundhouse in London where I used to go in the 70s and find the modern bands just don't seem to have the excitement, the sense of revolution and the sense of expectany of bands from the 70s. Sure music changes but bands like Edgar Broughton Band, Pink Fairies, Gong and even Ian Dury and Blockheads used to have some sort of kick, some sort of buzz. I don't undertand it it used to be said that older people, I am no spring chicken, would complain that modern music is too loud and you can't understand the words but to be honest I would say that modern music is too quiet and you can hear the words. In a way I feel sorry for younger people today as however naively there used to be a sense of change and excitement in late 60s to mid 70s which there doesn't seem to be in modern music of today.

Watching Def Leppard's - 'In The Round...' live DVD, which I last saw on my VHS copy well over 15 years ago. Tres big nostalgia and, much like EV's Bowie revelation, better than I remembered it!
Still a damn shame about Steve Clarke.
