Justin Timberlake - 'Cry Me A River'.
What can I say? I like it.
Now really, there's no need for those disparaging looks.
Look, if it makes you feel any better I'll listen to some Dave Brubeck next.

Well I've listen to the entirety of 'Rid Of Me', 'To Bring You My Love' and 'Is This Desire' and now listening to 'Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea' -- the fourth track 'One Line' to be precise.

Emilie Autumn - 'Misery Loves Company'. I blame Azathoth via 2legs.

I'm fairly sure I don't like Emilie Autumn. The woman needs to spend a bit of time with people that smile.

Kaiser Chiefs - 'Retirement'. Any song that mentions the invention of the tumble drier as an aspiration is alright by me.

Sounds good to me, Roymondo. Can't say I've listen to much of the Kaiser Chiefs.
Just got fed up when Jim Morrison goes mental at the start of the Soft Parade so...
Bob Marley (& the Wailers)> Easy Skanking

There are many people that pour disparagement on the recent crop of popular British guitar bands (Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, The Fratellis, The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys etc) but I can't see the reason for the umbrage. These bands are honest, wear their hearts (and influences) on their sleeves and are writing good tunes with entertaining lyrics. What's not to like?
Now listening to the rest of 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob', some of which reminds me of XTC.

I trust that wasn't a response to what I said? The Kooks and the Arctic Monkeys have done a few good uns but, as far as I'm concerned, both bands, and many others, have rubbish singers. Yeah, their voices work on a few tracks but not on a whole album. And it's a shame because some good tunes are ruined by poor vocals. Imagine if Ringo had sung every Beatles song!
Anyway, now that I have that thought in my mind:
The Beatles> Octopus's Garden

van-smeiter, that was just a rambling rant, not in response to anything. In fact it was on the wrong website!

Somehow I am unsurprised that you would reach this conclusion.

XTC (mentioned in the last 10 posts somewhere) - The Wheel & The Maypole. The acoustic "demo" version from Homegrown.
XTC are an influence on a large number of guitar bands. Charlotte Hatherley (formerly of Ash) cites them specifically. And you can't get much more XTC than early Blur. And then there's Dogs Die In Hot Cars...
