Well, I'm just loving this conversation.

Well I was wrong, wasn't I. I now see that, against all the odds, the h2g2 community really does have the capacity to engage in prolonged, stimulating, sarcastic debate. I hope this thread is preserved in the annals, as testament to the inventiveness, ingenuity and humour shown by all the contributors here. Well done guys, you really deserve all the plaudits you will doubtless receive.
