A stake-out in a Hillman Avenger Estate! My first car was a Hillman Avenger...
oh, did I say that out loud?
Nice to see them paying tribute to all the 'sliding over the car bonnet' shots from Starsky & Hutch/The Professionals/The Sweeney with Gene getting stuck on the bonnet of a Capri
I'm going to miss this series when it's finished.

Great episode... although I wish they hadn't given away so many important plot points in the Next Time trailer.

I managed to see the opening credits for the first time last night, but wasn't paying proper attention - is there a woman in a red dress/coat with a small child in there? It was so fleeting and I wasn't looking for it...

Really enjoyed last night's epsiode - the writing is brilliant. The comment near the beginning about the guide-dog had Mr T and I howling with laughter.
Life on Mars has been 'delicious' at so many levels - the writing, the acting, the music.
I'm pleased to see they're about to film a new series - but I want to know what really happened NOW

I hope they don't fall into the trap of dragging it out too long.
It would be quite cool if he woke up in hospital, assumed everything was back to normal and then found out the year is 2012. I wonder if the next series will have a fresh idea?

missed the programme but i always remember the picture of the face that was photographed on the surface, i mean sure it could be just chance but it always seemed a little to close to a mans face to be just a natruly formed coincidence

The Life On Mars that we are talking about here is a television drama programme, currently showing on BBC tv in the UK - from the link I posted:
"John Simm stars as Sam Tyler, a driven and ambitious young detective, determined to keep the streets of 21st Century Manchester safe. But after a near fatal car accident, he wakes up, dazed and confused, in 1973. Has he gone back in time? Is he in a coma? Or has he simply gone insane?"
We are not talking about the planet Mars, and the possibility that there may be life there - that is why I was laughing

The face on Mars was a natural phenomenon which is known as a simulacrum. NASA actually tried to photograph it again a few years ago and it wasn't there.

SPOILER ALERT! Awooga!
Right up to the last minute I was waiting for Sam to wake up. I even thought that the catalyst would be him actually meeting, even touching, his younger self, but then...
"Pub?"

So what will he be flashing back to in series two?

Shoes. I told you so.
Did anyone else catch an interview with one of the writers on Front Row? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/frontrow/index.shtml (though it doesn't appear to be on Listen Again yet).

On the one hand, I'm disappointed that the coma plot hasn't been resolved, but I thoroughly enjoyed that episode. The resolution wasn't hard to guess early on, but I almost leapt out of my seat when I saw Annie in that dress. And the reprise of 'Life on Mars' was superb.
And now we have to wait until next year for the next series.
