PUDDING on the radio!
Ormondroyd Started conversation May 26, 2003
I'm being interviewed about PUDDING for BBC Radio 5's 'Up All Night' tonight! I'm recording the interview by phone at 11:30 tonight; I'm not sure exactly when it'll go out, but I believe that 'Up All Night' generally repeats items through the night.
It's a golden opportunity to spread the grumpy gospel. I'll do my best to represent the cause!

I'd say congrats, but I do believe that would contravine p.u.d.d.i.n.g house rules. (we really do need a grumpy smiley)
I am sure that a sincere would be acceptable.
My mental spell check is in for repair today, so live with it.

How did it come about? Well, I got an e-mail! I thought it might be a hoax at first, but I rang the number it gave and it really was Radio 5. I guess it just shows that the folks at BBC Radio 5 look at BBC web pages!

Maybe there's an already existing member of PUDDING working for them?

Will you be interviewed by Rhod Sharp? Up All Night items don't repeat throughout the show, but it is now archived on the Radio 5 section of the BBC Radio Player - for one day at a time and in one hour chunks.
I usually listen to it on headphones while Mrs Gosho is watching trashy primetime tv (it begins at 7pm here in Texas) and it reminds of listening to it in my van whilst tearing around London at night delivering magazines.

I have no idea who'll be interviewing me, but it is being pre-recorded, so it may not be Mr Sharp in person.
Funny - I could have sworn I'd heard things more than once during the same edition of 'Up All Night'. But then, it's a while since my insomnia has been so bad that I've heard a lot of it.
Whatever, it sounds like you should hear me tonight, Gosho. I hope you approve!

Do you think there is any chance of the italics putting a recording of it on their RealPlayer page so that we can all listen to it at a more reasonable time of the day?

It does offer a chance to listen again here if you missed it - but a link from the pudding page to it via h2g2 would just be great

Haven't you seen the RealPlayer vids that the italics put up from time to time?
I'll go see if I can find a link

Well, that was just .
I've done the interview, and I'm told that it's going out at 1:20am. What I didn't anticipate at all was being confronted on the phone with none other than Janice Hathy, whose reported antics with The Great American Grump Out prompted the formation of PUDDING. They're doing another Grump Out on Wednesday, and she insists that it's been misrepresented. She says that it's all in aid of charity and that no-one is picked on for being grumpy.
Which, I fear, makes me sound like some mean git who's attacking noble fund-raising activity. But I did my best to convey what PUDDING is really about, and the fact that it is all meant fairly humorously. I just hope that doesn't get lost in the editing process.
I also hope that they leave in the bit where I invited her to join PUDDING.
