Well I'm back. The early week strategy was a resounding success, witht the slight side effect of the worst hangover being on the first morning smiley - erm.

Sunday night - all night mayhem in the Hofbrauzelt - the rowdiest in the place. Beer count (litre steins) smiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - ale

Monday - wonderful food in bierkeller at Marienplatz (favourite haunt). A million and one dead animals on a plate, and a lovely dunkel beer to wash it down with. Then on to favourite tent Paulaner for the afternoon/evening session and some well earned Hendl (chicken). Beer count smiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - ale

Tuesday - Slow start, with a long walk to the English Garden, and a beer in the Chinese Pagoda biergarten. Beer count smiley - ale

Then it was back to the fest for an afternoon session in the Lowenbrau tent. Cheesy band, Walking on Sunshine, 99 Luftballons, Life is Life and a beer count of smiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - ale, before a brief stop in the Pshorrkeller for a final Weissbeer smiley - ale.

Hi, Oetz: Glad to hear things are going well for you! One day at a time! smiley - ok

TPC: Welcome back. Thanks for the headlines; we'll wait for the full story. Speaking of which, did the Chicago piece come out, and where can I find it?

You will be so proud of me: I just ordered "Anorakphobia." I got a $50 gift certificate to a book/record store for speaking to some college kids, so decided to blow it on CDs. This store had a s****y selection but DID have a computer thing with which you could dial up any group or album you wanted and listen to it! No guarantee they would have the group or album, but they'll order for you. I listened to some bits from the album, then ordered it. Also picked up Joe Jackson's "Night and Day II" and the Peter Malick group album with Norah Jones. All in all, a good night. smiley - biggrin But my Marillion album won't be here for a week to a week and a half. smiley - blue

How was the wedding, then?

Erm...as I haven't yet written my contribution to the chicago thing, it's not gonna be out till I do. But it should be in the Post when it gets written BigRed.

The chances are that both stories will appear soon in their entirety on my website. The Chicago one at least will probably be serialised over a few weeks in the post. I can also put photos on my site, but I'm limited to probably one or two for the post entry.

Big Red!! You have bought three very fine albums I assure you. I look forward to your opinion on all three (but especially Anoraknophobia smiley - biggrin)

Zantic - Who is this woman??

I've just been listening to 'Ice Cream Genius' by Steve Hogarth and his other band (the one we went to see a wek past friday) Sooooooooooo gooooooooooood!

It has no bearing on this conversation, but I thought I'd let you know anyhow! smiley - rofl

Other band? Is he in Marillion? I'm not familiar with him, though I think I may have seen his name before on XM Radio. (One of the coolest things about XM is the name of the artist and the same of the song are displayed. Love that!)

TPC, I *do* like "Night and Day II," not even minding that he doesn't sing on three of them since he sings the bulk. Love "Stranger Than You" and "Happyland." It's a sad album for the most part, but I've always liked sad songs.

Tonight, though, I'm in a ROCK mood. I'm playing my vinyl of "Physical Graffiti" and Elvis Costello's first album.

Let me know when your trips are posted on your site, please. Looking forward to them.

Zantic, I can understand why you haven't gotten to your part yet, with all you have to do at work right now!

More Monday.

Steve Hogarth is the lead singer of Marillion. Except when he's doing things with his 'h' band.

Night and Day II is a grower - I liked the quick tunes at the beginning straight away, but songs like 'Glamour and Pain' and 'Love Got Lost' come into their own later. And 'Stay' has to be the best album closer ever.... smiley - biggrin

I'm just alarmed that 6.3 million visitors drank 6.1 million litres... That's less than one litre per person, which begs the question:

Whose beer was I drinking!?!?

I haven't. Because I'm trying not to become more Joe-obsessed than I already am, but you aren't helping with that! I'm sure he doesn't spend NEARLY as much time thinking about me. smiley - biggrin

I think "Night and Day II" is possibly the most beautiful JJ album I've ever heard. I'm sure I will be humming from it and singing lines from it the whole time I'm in New York. (Leaving Oct. 18.)
