Oktoberfest wasn't on two weeks ago - it just started yesterday.
I think I'll take my chances. I've been five times now and had an absolute ball every time - 9/11 changed the vibe a bit in 2001, but if anything the comaraderie was even better.

To London on Friday to see a concert, then meeting with my long standing drinking partner in Manchester on Saturday night (for a warm-up session) before flying to Munich on Sunday morning.
The third member of our team is flying in from Columbus Ohio and should arrive in Munich a few hours before we do.

Sounds great! What concert are you seeing?
You'll have to email me some beer samples next week.
Is Zantic coming too?

We are going to see the "h-band" which is the lead singer from Marillion's side project. They are fantastic. Zantic will be coming to London for the gig, but not to Munich - she'll fly back to Scotland when I go to Manchester, and onwards to the fest!!
I'll try and attach some beer to my journal entry . There's usually a webcam - I'll look for it and post the URL.

Zantic - Who is this woman?? Posted Sep 22, 2003
Much as I like beer, I don't like the effects of too much of it. A four day long drinking binge just ain't attractive..
So I'm coming back to Scotland to help my best freind celebrate her thirty-umph birthday on Saturday night then have a girly day in Glasgow to catch up with the girls. Then back to the research..
Ah well..
You survive the storm OK BigRed?

Wow, yes it is. You'll have to hold up a big sign.
As for Zan, I have to say the girly day sounds like fun too. I have a women's group that gets together to play cards once a month. Great fun! Our monthly meet is this Friday. No wholesome food allowed.
And yes, we came through the storm very well, thanks for asking. No property damage. No flooding. Lost power for only 34 hours, which I turned into an opportunity to thoroughly clean the fridge and freezer.
We were very lucky. Three blocks from us I saw a tree branch thrust through the windshield of someone's car. Oops.

We *were* sort of hoping that lightning would hit the White House and knock some sense into them, but alas, it was not to be.

True. He went up to the presidential retreat in the mountains, which was sort of funny because the storm was expected to be worse there than in Washington.

Perhaps he could have come visited his old pal Tony Blair for a bit - I'm sure Cherie would have slept on the sofa to give the lovebirds some time together.....

I thought it was so funny that English folk were calling Blair "Bush's poodle." For a while, anytime Blair's name was mentioned at the office I would bark.

Big Red Posted Sep 22, 2003
I did *NOT* vote for Bush. I voted for the person who actually won the popular vote. I wasn't crazy about him either, but I don't like Bush's party *at all*, so in the end I voted for my party, not for the person it nominated.
In a way, I'm hoping he keeps screwing up Iraq and economy so folks will throw him out of office in 14 months. He can be a one-termer just like dear old Dad.
Have to trot off to my morning meeting now.
Later.
