I'd still like to do the Halifax Haricot. Halifax is a lovely town, the Piece Hall has some great shops (including a smiley - witch-themed one with broomsticks 'parked' outside, and there's a good choice of picturesque pubs.

It certainly is by train. There are regular and late-running direct trains between Halifax and Manchester.

halifax is a cool little pituresque town and easy to get to just off m62
between leeds and manchester, been many times in the days of old ,

Having just had a look at online train times, there are trains between Manchester and Marple after 9pm, just not to the other railway station in Marple. It's not that far between the two...
