Hmm.
I can relate to that - I had two speeches to write in the last couple of days, plus a pile of factual information for someone (having found out that this was needed only a day or so before the deadline, needless to say).
My keyboard was red hot...
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Phew!
I got in this morning to find a load of questions about the stuff I sent up last week - fortunately I was just copied in rather than the one being asked, so I didn't have to answer them!
Not the best thing to start your Monday morning - trying to give advice about the effects of petrol prices on tourism which was needed yesterday (literally)...
Never mind. That's all done, and I can move onto the next thing...
Wish it was a holiday or something.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hey there
We're having a little re-build and upgrade so we'll be in and out for a while.
Probably going over to Red Hat Linux, as Billy wants MORE money from us for his hiked O/S. If it didn't fall over so often I might think it almost worth a tenth of what he 's asking.
So how did the "Shopping Spree" after achieving your target go, or hasn't that happened as yet?
We've now both working days and the new job is just the best, just hope it lasts. The last one was hell.
Well Catch you again soon.....
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Conceited Little Megapuppy - Inbound traveller and Unas Matriarch Posted Nov 28, 2002
Hurrah! Hi there
I haven't been on the *official* spree yet because I've still got something like 3 or 4 ounces to go before I reach the real target.
It was *so* frustrating! I got on the scales and lost just under 3 and a half pounds. More than three, but not enough to be rounded up to four!
Never mind. I'm there pretty much now, so as far as I'm concerned, I've virtually done it.
I went on an *unofficial* spree yesterday with my Mum to buy a load of clothes as Chrissie presents. I had to because we didn't know what would fit me. So on Christmas Day I will be opening up parcels of size 12 clothes and size 7 boots! Yay! - that's a drop from size 26 and size 8!
And I then went and got a decent black dress for concerts, with a gorgeous lacy cardigan-like thingy to go over the top and hide my horrid flabby arms (legacy of the loss, alas!) and a tidy winter coat (which only cost me £20 - thank you Primark!)
The biggy is going to be in the New Year, when I go and raid a local McArthur Glen designer outlet. Can't wait!

Hi Hushpaw!
Welcome to my kennel - it's nice for a comfy, domesticated canine like myself to meet one of my lupine cousins.
I'm glad you like my page - it used to be quite unmanagable, but it's safely settled as an entry now so that I can go back and remember how I built it if I want to build another one! Mind you, a quick visit shows that your page is also pretty .
I'm not sure if wolves are into , but feel free to help yourself!

Felicitous greetings from...Sconali
I am a resonably new member to h2g2 and i havn't joined musicians guild yet but intened to then maybe I will be an ignored musician! I am just relaxing after a GCSE English again which in sheer stupidity and excitement I am taking a year early. I just realised what a pointless message this is! better run!

Hi Sconali, welcome to the Kennel!
Argh. Exams. I'm *sooooooooooooo* glad I did those sorts of things over ten years ago!
No message to me is pointless. I like it when people talk to me - as long as they don't say things like £*%("_*%&£(*%&"£(*", I'm happy.

Hi there also, fellow goo-fanatic! Did you read my (admittedly awful) poem?
Thank you for your sympathy, Smokey's been gone since July, but we still all miss him a lot - even though we ended up with him completely by accident (a long, long story involving an incompetent pet shop staff, my sister and an unexpected pregnancy that delivered four gerbil kittens one night. He was the only male, so we looked after him while his sisters stayed with mine).

I did read your poem. It was not awful at all. Maybe it wasn't emily dickenson but it served its purpose well, I thought.
We have a guinea pig named Maryanne.(Ginger passed on more than a year ago now) She is very spoiled. I've never had gerbils. We had hamsters when was young in california. Gerbils were illiegal there for some reason.

Conceited Little Megapuppy - Inbound traveller and Unas Matriarch Posted Mar 19, 2004
Gerbils illegal in California? That sounds quite bizarre - but perhaps there were concerns that escapees might colonise the area or something. Not that I can see the rattlesnake population complaining at such an outcome!
Given what happened over here during the Ninja Turtle craze back in the early nineties, I can understand that. There are colonies of feral terrapins living in park lakes all over Britain even ten years on.
They're engaging characters, though (Gerbils, not terrapins). Smokey used to have a two-level cage, which was part of a large run with tubes and seesaws and suchlike. He often used to wait on the upper level when you took out his food dish for a refill in the morning, and when you returned it, he'd be leaning out as far as he possibly could, reaching out with one paw to try to get at the peanut that you always put in a prominent place (at least, you did if you wanted to avoid a sulky gerbil for the rest of the day). The trouble is, whenever he did this, we'd always be wondering if he'd fall off - and he did now and again. Oddly, this never stopped him at all.
I do recall spending one snowy half term holiday looking after the school guinea pigs when I was about six or so (I don't recall what varieties of pig they were, but - oddly - I do remember their names: Patches and Rosetta). Intriguing creatures, though my particular ambition is to keep rats. Without doubt the most intelligent of rodents.

Felicitous greetings from...flyingtwinkle you too a fan of abba?
Hi Megapuppy
Conceited Little Megapuppy - Inbound traveller and Unas Matriarch Posted May 6, 2004
Hi there Flyingtwinkle - yes indeed, I have enjoyed Abba's music for many years. I can remember listening to Abba on my dad's first ever tape cassette recorder when I was no more than about six or seven years old - I'm now thirty four and listening to them on CD instead.
Yes the costumes were daft. Yes the lyrics are sometimes a bit naff, (I don't know of anyone else out there who rhymed 'Restaurants' and 'Croissants') but the songs were beautifully crafted, wonderfully sung, and each one had its own individuality, which is why they have survived to become real pop classics even after more than twenty years.
Top stuff.
