Hey Puppy, we really like all the new 's like and .
Have none of you caught the recent articles in the , Buzzards are Up, overtaking Kestrels and Sparrow Hawks as most common raptor. There's a proliferation of exotics (Parrots and MacKaw's in the south). Sparrows and Starlings are down, but Dunlins, beautiful singers) are also up.
We're not beach obssessed iether, but the view over Oxwych is beautiful. We love it so much we did a water colour of it last Summer. There are a few photo's here:

Ooh - can't wait!
Only four days to go 'til my hols! I am counting every second...
With a bit of luck there might be the chance to visit an internet café, but it's not likely. So I won't be around for two weeks after Friday.
But I am around until then!
Hi Megapuppy
SuePlusArt Posted Aug 28, 2002
Hope you have a lovely time in Kent, Tenterden, Rye, Canterbury, all lovely, but places to avoid are Margate and Ramsgate unless you like over commercialised Seaside towns, Broadstairs is better.
Well we'll be Wedded by 10:30, and in the Peloppennese by Monday.
So back on line in Mid September.

Two southcoast lovers Posted Aug 28, 2002
there's also the romney-hive and dymchurch railway that runs from hive to dungeness, it's the smallest railway I think in the world. very weird but wonderful place dungeness! and camber sands if you are into sand dunes. rye really nice flat shoes though as there's a lot of cobbles
have a really nice time
Hi Megapuppy
Conceited Little Megapuppy - Inbound traveller and Unas Matriarch Posted Aug 28, 2002
Thank you!
The railway is one of my Dad's 'must see' places, so we are definitely going there. It's nice to have an endorsement, though! We're also going to visit Rye.
Two and a half days left in w*rk...
Hi Megapuppy
SuePlusArt Posted Aug 30, 2002
Today's the Day, at 10.00 am in Maidstone at the Archbishops Palace.
The Railway is a step back into the 1950's (it's hayday) . There is a tiny little museum in Rye, just down the street (lots of antique and pottery shops)from the Church (also worth going up the Church tower for the view) worth a look. The Angel Inn is a gem and the town Goal is a good view point too.
Tell your Dad to hop over the boarder into Sussex, to the Bluebell Railway, it's heaps better. Or if that's too far the Tenterden Light Railway is also good.
Lots of & opportunities too!!!!!!!!!
Have a great time .

EEEEEEEKKKKKK!
Have a great day! Hope it all goes really well! I'll be thinking of you!
Thanks for the tips - I'll pass them on - we're planning to visit Rye, so it's dead useful to know what to see while we're there.

Hi nine.bar Sorry I didn't respond yesterday, but I was having computer foulups.
Nice to meet you! I hope my slimming's going well, too. Day of reckoning tonight, though as it's the first weigh in after my two weeks on hols!
As far as I'm concerned, if you're happy with the way you look - that's a great thing . I just wasn't (to be honest, I hated it), so I decided to do something about it (plus I didn't fancy the increased risk of a stroke - as there's a history of it in the family). Can't wait till I get to my target weight, though. It means I can go on the biggest shopping spree I've ever had!
Be
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you for all your tips and suggestions for our holiday!
Rye was gorgeous. Absolutely loved it!
We crammed in as much as we could - Canterbury, Hever Castle, Leeds Castle, Tenterden Vineyard (twice - Mum and Dad brought back twelve bottles of wine...), the R,H& D Railway (stopping to climb to the top of the old lighthouse at Dungeness and nearly getting blown off it - it was windy that day), Smallhythe Place (a real gem, that), Chartwell, Knole... boy, the list just goes on and on.
We got to Paris as well, and visited Hampton Court, the Tower and Greenwich whilst we were at it.
And as for Finchcocks -
We went along thinking - 'oh, just pop in for an hour or so and then go on to Scotney Castle'.
Hah!
We arrived around two o'clock, and were still there at half past six! Even my Mum enjoyed it, and she's not *remotely* interested in music. The concert was superb, I loved the dry humour, and the utter informality of it. Thank you so much for recommending it!
And no, we never did get to Scotney Castle...
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
SuePlusArt Posted Sep 21, 2002
We're delighted that you liked "Finchcocks" we somehow felt it would go well. The way you feel about music and the way they are there, informal, as you put it. The owner/founder/head curator is a really lovely and knowledgeable man who's love affair with music is infectious. We liked the spinnets the best, bought two cd's "Bellows, Jacks and Tangents" is a favourite.
The wedding went brilliantly and the Honeymoon in the Pelopponese was a idylic.
So now we're back to w**k and severely depressed.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Welcome back!
Travelled through Maidstone on the way down, saw a sign to the Archbishop's Palace and thought of you! Glad the honeymoon went well too!
'Bellows, Jacks and Tangents' is now a part of my CD collection as well!
I have to admit the Muselar was my favourite (even though it was a reproduction). The sound quality produced just by swapping a virginals keyboard from the left to the right of the case was remarkable.
Richard Burnett was without doubt a delightful and convivial host, and we all had a wonderful time, as it was almost like a family jam session to which we had all been invited. Plus they did good cakes and tea in the café!
Here - have some . It's rotten being back at w*rk, isn't it?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
SuePlusArt Posted Sep 24, 2002
Hi ,
We have'nt sampled the comestables there as yet but it's concert season from now till Christmas so we'll definately be going. We've not heard the Muselar as yet but will keep an ear open for it the next time we go too.
Whilst in Messinia we went to Mystras, which is near to Sparta and it was amazing. It's a huge site with loads to see, the Byzantine art is really very special.
Sadly we didn't get to hear any local music, there were some villagers in a hill taverna who got up for a short sing and a dance, but the priest was watching so they kept their hair up.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Conceited Little Megapuppy - Inbound traveller and Unas Matriarch Posted Sep 24, 2002
It's in the room next to the big John Byfield Chamber Organ, tucked into the corner. I think tracks 8 and 9 on the Bellows, Jacks and Tangents CD were recorded using it.
Talking of the Byfield, the last part of the concert we attended featured it, and Steven Devine asked for a volunteer to pump it (not me, thank God). The poor lad nearly ruptured himself at the end when all the stops got pulled out! Then Steven agreed that it was hard work. Which was why they'd had the electric blower installed...
'Kept their hair up' I like that!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Got it, yes it is lovely, did they play any of that dreamy 1930's stuff on the Grand by the window at the foot of the staircase.
We've been doing the rounds since we got back, and still thank you letters to send. Oh well............
W**K, W**K, W**K,
Going for a new job and something a little more interesting we hope, that involves daylight hours and more dough .
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Conceited Little Megapuppy - Inbound traveller and Unas Matriarch Posted Oct 4, 2002
We got to hear it - but I can't remember now what they played - I'll have to check my notes and see if I wrote it down.
Yes - I made notes. All the way through. I now have a little writeup of the most memorable thing I did on my holiday (which says it all about the place - we went there on the second day, and given that I had such a cracking time everywhere else).
Mind you, Holly played 'Clair de Lune' on the Broadwood grand, which was also pretty dreamy.
Good luck with the new job. Anything with a bit more dosh in the equation is a good thing in my book - and if it includes daylight hours - even better.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
