Ellen

I've been going through the most wicked depression. Bleh. It's been hanging on for weeks now. Art helps some, socializing helps some, but to be honest I'm starting to fall into that category of "doesn't take pleasure in pleasurable things." Part of it is Spring, part is hormones I guess, and part is Bipolar. Ah, for a mundane temperment!

I've got nothing to say that isn't glib and trite, I'm afraid, so I'll just limit myself to the one observation that admitting to depression is the best way to start getting it under control. At least, that's how it goes in my case.

I'll just hang around in case that helps somehow. smiley - zen

It occurred to me tonight that I have doctor's permission to add Zyprexa to my meds when I'm feeling too up or down. So it's slowly getting through my thick skull, hey, this may be one of those times. I always think of Zyprexa when I'm too up, but I tend to forget that it can help alleviate depression too.

I'm just talking out loud, Ivan. Not medical advice, yada yada.

Dear Ellen,

If you can make it to posting on here about your depression, your medication must be helping you even if you don't recognise it working smiley - ok

The Zyprexa is pretty heavy stuff - it wouldn't be prescribed if it didn't help too.

And yada yada yada yada smiley - biggrin

Thinking of you. Keep yourself well and comfortable in the meantime.

'Doesn't take pleasure in pleasurable things'
I can relate to that on a huge scale. Its so difficult isnt it when you can't enjoy anything. I think depression is one of lifes biggest struggles if you suffer from it, sometimes if im honest i do feel a bit sorry for myself and wonder why me? Especially when a close friend of mine is so happy go lucky and struggles to relate to me when im on a 'low'. Why can't that be me?? lol. Anyways as it goes i feel 'ok' today and i hope you are too. The lows hit you like a sledgehammer though don't they, i hope your body comes out of it soon Ellen. Lots of love from Kent, England, to Tennessee xxx

Hi JEllen. I hope you'll feel like yourself again soon. I agree that perhaps Zyprexa might be a good idea (yadda yadda, though smiley - winkeye), and maybe a Leo movie marathon will lift you a bit? Purring cat is sure to soothe, too.

Thank you for your email- to which I have replied. Thanks for your concern- everything will be okay at my end so I hope that won't contribute any further low feelings for you. smiley - hug

Yeah smiley - hug from me too. I'm also on the zyprexa of late. At least it does really help with sleep, which is important.

Welcome GlitterPixie! Good to see you in my journal.

Hey PC, I'm not too worried about you guys, cause I know K will find something better in the way of work. Leo marathon might be just the ticket.

Hey Flying Ants/Effers. Yeh, the Zyprexa seems to be helping my sleep too.

Hi JEllen

You are in a group of many....

Traumatic events have scarred us all....

Trish, my wife was abused by her father

I was abused by my mother..

To cap it off, we both suffered abuse by a car driving into the living room of our house in 2001. The driver of the car was uninsured....

If my wife and I can fight that, I am sure you can conqer you gremlins....

Thanks for posting, everyone. I am starting to feel a bit better.

GTwin, I'm sorry you've had such a rough time of it. I guess it makes us stronger, eh? That's what they say anyway. I've always been lucky to have a supportive family.

Thanks BMT/Pussycat, JZD, and Willem too.
