23 September, 2004: Want to Take Part in a TV Programme?
The H2G2 Editors Started conversation Sep 23, 2004
Our colleagues at BBC Entertainment are looking for people like you to take part in a pilot for a new series. They're specifically looking for people who spend long hours online and the rest of the day keeping the couch warm:
- If you're leading a life of leisure - surviving off subs from family and friends
- If you're waiting for the dream job to come along but it's been a while and let's face it job hunting was never your strong point
- If your Mum and Dad are desperate for you to fly the nest
Then the BBC wants to hear from you.

(Please don't ask questions in this Conversation though as we cannot guarantee a reply)

Err... were you intending to put a subject in the subject line, as well as the date?

And now you have, making me out to be a liar.
By the way, if I wanted to take part of a TV programme, as the subject now asks, I think it would be the theme tune. They are always fun.
Or maybe you are asking if I want to take part IN a TV programme? No, I don't think I'd want to do that.
Just watch - they'll change it again now, just to spite me.

I assume that this only applies to those living in the UK - although if it based on internet use that really shouldn't be a problem.

No, in my experience all the hours are of approximately the same duration.

Would participating "of" that Programme mean that I have to abstain from h2g2 during the recording of said Programme? If so, NO WAY! that you'll see me on TV any time soon...

ahhhh, the power of the italics to correct their c*ck-ups and make the people pointing them out look silly
I can't do it, I spend hardly any time on line, hardly any at all

Look at the first post! They've changed the header again! I told you they would!
It's a personal campaign against me, I know it is.

What impression does the BBC have of it's reguluar internet users?
Am I alone in finding this slightly offensive ?

eloisa Posted Sep 23, 2004
Get's more offensive every time I read it, and it does change, you're not imagining things.

Geggs Posted Sep 23, 2004
Oh, I know I'm not imagining it. This isn't paranoia, you know!
This is clear and unambiguous evidence of an orchestrated campaign on behalf of the italics to drive me stark staring mad. They're all out to get me. Yes, they are.

I believe you.
Although I believe all kinds of imposssible and improbable things.
Mad is a much under-rated state of mind, still it passes the time for all us jobless, scrounging, idle buggers.
Fume, rant, etc.

- it isn't like the italics are saying that we are all couch potatos, just that we are an online community and as such the membership may include people who fit the descriptions they put above.
