OOOHH!! I think the BBC is SOOOO lovely to put a subject heading on my favouritest site in the whole wide internet world, that has as its title MY BIRTHDAY!!
*proudly caresses worldwide accolade*
And since i am having a birthday party in a Country Which Is Not Youkay & several h2g2 people are travelling here to attend this, maybe this might imply the site has possibly motivated people to pick up their couches & walk?

"San clue Paris Match", as they say round here!
Has anyone actually sent the BBC an email? I just did, it will be interesting to see if they reply & if so, what the response is. I shall keep you informed!

Actually, Fluffy Pink Rabbit meets a lot of the qualifications, but does not belong to the right species.

Ha its probably part of the bbc 'Fat Nation'thingy isn't it. See I couldn't apply because I'm waiting for my children to leave home,I only spend hours on here intermittently and I'm not fat.Why don't they do a programme on the communities of the BBC now that I would gladly be on.

Galliards are extremely vigorous dances, designed to show off the manly physique (to reply to Paul H). As such they would have suited the Virgin Queen admirably. Normally a partner is involved, and the male does most of the leaping. Perhaps Bess wanted to exercise someone else.
One of Dowland's best tunes is "The Earl of Essex Galliard"; words were added to this later when the Earl, once hopeful of marrying the Queen, went out of fashion at court: "Can she excuse my wrongs with virtue's cloak? Shall I call her good when she proves unkind? Are those clear fires that vanish into smoke? Must I praise the leaves, where no fruit I find?"
You might say he lost his head for her.

My son applied - but they think he's too young. They're keeping his details on file in case they decide to go younger.

Recumbentman, you are all right in my book.
I have recordings of a lot of Dowland's pieces, and love them a lot. I used one of his songs as an audition piece. I don't remember much of it offhand now, but it had the phrase "I die for the fair."

Hi all!
Just to let you know - nope, this show is nothing to do with 'Fat Nation', nor is it currently on any 'Be on the BBC' type sites, because it's at a very early stage of development - in fact, they're working on the pilot episode right now.

They would have used my sister if she didn't live in the east of Scotland
However, how disgraceful is this - Edinburgh is Scotland's capital city, but where do you think BBC Scotland is based? G*****w!

Shocking! How appalling of Scotland to have more than one big city.

People in Englandshire have trouble getting their head around how big Scotland really is. A friend of mine calling an English company from Aberdeen was told "You're in luck; we have somebody in your area at the moment! He's across in Portree for the next hour or so; if you drive over you might just catch him."*
(*Aberdeen - Portree = 334.4km, 207.79 miles)

<< in fact, they're working on the pilot episode right now. >>
Well, you know what they say about pilots: there are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old bold pilots.
And if your nursemaid is stupid or hard of hearing, you might get apprenticed to a pirate instead of a pilot.
