I thought I'd mention that I'm coming to Chicago in mid-March for a week and I'm stupidly excited about it - it'll be my first experience of the US up close, and since I've long been fascinated by it, I'm looking forward to getting a fix on the place while meeting a good friend and ex-hootooer Barton. Though I'm British and generally quite a nervous sort, I'd love to meet up with any other Chicagoans who might be about 14-22 Mar for a drink; and I don't doubt B would too. I'm planning to go to the Abbey on W. Grace on the 22nd to see Godspeed You Black Emperor! if that appeals to anyone

I look forward to hearing from anyone who might want to meet up, though I'll unfortunately be back in blighty before you all meet up, assuming I made it out alive

i'm fairly sure you'll be safe from the mobsters... i've survived all my ventures so far at any rate . now if you were travelling to new york it might be a different story. i don't think i realized that barton was in chicago. he's been offsite for quite some time! gone but not forgotten

i've alerted a few of our chicagoans to this conversation, they may be along shortly. unfortunately i'll be otherwise booked that week, and it's a little bit out of my way (about 6 hours north). i hope you enjoy your visit though!

Hi, Chris! The Abbey Pub is within walking distance from my home... unfortunately, my friend's bridal shower is that day, and I'm maid of honor so I've got to go. However, if you'll be near my area during that time, perhaps I could meet you and your friend somewhere for a drink or two- I'd really like that! I'll have to check with the missus to see what our schedule holds for those days, but I'll certainly try to pop by the Abbey (fun plce, BTW).


Anyway, they say that warmer weather is on the way foir you, but right now the temp is around 15 F, but sunny.
