In Ask the h2g2 community there is a disagreement on what to call this decade. The British researchers don't like my name for it and I don't like theirs.
One curator went so far as to say
'The english speaking world has solved the problem. It seems to be the American speaking world that has the problem.'

Lansing Michigan was incorporated 1859
In may they are having a parade called the
"Parade of the decades"
there are supposed to be a float for each decade since the city was founded.
I wonder how they will label the last float

In retrospect none of the floats were named for decades but for their sponsers ie the Quality Dairy float
the board of Water and Light float
The Cristo Rae float, the American Red Cross etc.

primorisdecadepostannumduokilo
that is a latin portmanteau for first decade following Y2K
Looking back at primorisdecadepostannumduokilo we can say the policies of the American president set the tone for the decade.
Much easier to write Looking back at the aughts ...

at least it doesn't carry the emotional baggage of the Noughties.
The American president set the tone for the Noughties.
No, it was Bill Clinton that we remember as being naughty and that was before Y2k.
The naughty nineties vs the fear filled aughts.

We have now exited the aughts and are now in the tweens.
Happy New Year everyone.
