Cats indeed rule the world. They are clever, resourceful, good looki.#^%$r$E
Sorry about that, I've just chucked the cat off the keyboard; he won't leave the mouse alone.
Anyway, how come if cats are sooo clever they use their tongues instead of toilet paper?

The difference between cats and dogs. When putting a shelf up (you, not the cat or dog) the dog will you, thinking, i don't know what you're doing but i love you. The cat wil think, that's not straight.
A similarity: they both try to steal my dinner if i'm not watching.

you call on a dog - it comes instantly, call on a cat and it will either tell you to leave a message with it's assistant or walk way in disgust.
hee hee - my cat isn't that bad but he is pretty funny, he's got a real sweet tooth tho he isn't above catching his own snacks (there's a field out back) and he has mastered the art of opening bags of crisps (so far his favourites are mint & lamb and cheese and onion) at the young age of 11 months
someone please tell me this is normal! lol

My two felines have spent the past two years training me, and I feel I've progressed a long way, and am considering wearing a collar etched with, 'I belong to..'. They like to be stroked while they eat their meals, they enjoy sitting in my chair (often with me on the floor, conveniently placed so that a chirrup will produce strokes and cuddles), they like to take me for walks - not least so they can roll over on my feet and lift their heads and howl for affection.
What is the payment for all this? Well, they pay in purrs, of course, and conversation. Anyone who believes cats can't communicate is fooling themselves: it's just that humans can be a bit thick.
I don't mind getting up very early (or they pounce on my feet, or any part of me that dares to move.. luckily I'm female..), but, just occasionally, it would be nice to be allowed to get on with something without inspection or assistance. Still, it's a job..
And, of course, being allowed to adore is - um - a good thing. I tell them I run a table dote..

The supreame nature of cats can be observed in this scene, seen everywhere by park goers ever day.
A man picks up a stick, and throws it. After the stick bounds his dog, tounge loling behide, arse boucing up and down in unpleasent fashion. It will then proceed to pick up the stick, and bring it back to the master, whence it can once more be launched for the dog to chase.
ANd theres a reason you dont see a scene with a cat acting the same way. This is because, if you threw a stick for a cat, you wouldn't get the reaction of a dog ("Oh oh oh, something moved, if better go and get it, and then that'll be good") you instead get this kind of reaction, said highly explicitly in just a single look "Well, that was bloody daft, now you don't have your stick do you?" The cat, the smartest creature on earth, will then proceed to have a wash, necessary ater all that belittleing humans.
And this is actually true, cats are the smartest creauure, in stead of building universities, or inventing wheels or anything so strenuous, they have instead opted to allow humans to do the work, and then reep the benifits. Im sure a cat could have invented central heating, but nah, let the humans do it, and i can nap. Purrr Purrr Chirrup Purr

I've read with pleasure all the interesting comments here in this chat about cats. I have a cat for the first time in my life and was at first very dubious. However my current circumstances made getting a dog impossible so a cat it had to be. All the things people have shared about the nature of cats are so true.
Living on my own as a widow I was hoping that having a pet would be good company. Wow! I won't ever describe my Bren as a pet anymore. I think the roles are reversed.
Having said that, I don't know how I ever managed without her.She is beautiful and so much more loving than I was given to understand. (Or am I just lucky? . My home now is full of bottle tops and balls of screwed up paper which she loves to chase but never brings back and they end up under chairs and other furniture.
Communicate?.... you might ask. Boy! They communicate alright, and there's no mistaking what they are asking, or should that be telling? If she wants to get up in the morning and I don't, be it 4am 0r 9am I get "the treatment" This consists of repeated nose rubbings face rubbings, kisses and lots of conversation (coming from both of us)
Why is it that cats want to have mad half hours at the most inconvenient times like.....the middle of the night?
Yes cats do have staff and I am Bren's willing servant

I know the feeling,
I'm allergic to cats, didn't want a cat, am at home for as little time as possible most days so didn't want any sort of pet that requires attention, and what happens?
This tiny pompom with eyes shows up sleeping rough in the yard, and stealing food, and fleeing all humans, and before I know what's happened, she's moved in, sleeps on my bed, expects regular meals, and rolls over to be have her tummy rubbed as soon as I come look at her! Her way of telling me it's breakfast time is to crawl under the duvet, curl up and purr loudly, eventually whacking my nose if I try to ignore her. I never stood a chance.
Of course i spend a fortune on tissues, but what the heck? She's gorgeous and knows it.
