Apologies to the rest of the world, but I just found a quite interesting fact that will only really mean anything to us British. On the plus side, it should be quite short.
What links:
Willoughby Goddard
Simon Callow
Ringo Starr?
This is a definitely no googlying one, though feel free to use any books you may have to hand.

hygienicdispenser Posted Sep 23, 2010
Taff, straight into the points. Ringo did Thomas the Tank Engine.
Correct +3
The rest is wrong though.

Also 'later replaced' is sort of relevant. DGI +1.

But in the film of the Yellow Submarine, the voices of the cartoon Beatles were done by impersonators.

They were, and if you can provide a link to Taff's last post, it'll definitely be worth a QI bonus.

Um....
Well I know the Beatles proper sang the songs, so presumably they were supposed to voice the characters but wound up being replaced.
Was Angelis one of the voice-actors?

>>Was Angelis one of the voice-actors?
Yes, but no, but yes, but no.... DGI +1. (Though this is a bit of a tangent to the main question).

One of the first programmes I saw on TV was 'William Tell'
Tell was the 'Goodie'played by Joseph(?) Conrad.
Landburger Gessler (The Baddie) was Willoughby Goddard, I believe..
Point to note as well......
What is wrong with William Tell and his crossbow?
Crossbows were unknown in Switzerland in the 'supposed' time of William Tell!!!

GT! I'll give you +3
for identifying Willoughby Goddard.
Though the answer has nothing to do with his role in William Tell.

He also cropped up in the Avengers.

I feel sorry for Linda Thorson. Destined to be remembered as "Not-quite-as-sexy-as-Diana-Rigg".

Oh, and Conrad Phillips was William Tell.

gandalfstwin OGGMSTKMBGSUIKWIATA Posted Sep 23, 2010
I can link two of the three a couple of ways, but not all three together!!!
Need time to think!!
Goddard and Callow, classical actors...
Starr(Starkey) and Callow, voiceovers
Will have to sleep on it!!

I just discovered an unexpected thing (nothing to do with the question). Linda Thorson recently appeared on stage in Equus with....Simon Callow.

Before I go to bed, I'll just say that the 'voice-over' theme is the way to go.

pebblederook-The old guy wearing surfer beads- what does he think he looks like? Posted Sep 24, 2010
It's been a while since I heard the dulcet tones of the so let us suggest that they all did voices for the monkeys in the tea adverts; "Avez-vous un cuppa?"
Apropos the Avengers, Linda Thorson was not as sexy as Diana Rigg, no one was!

Just remembered my favourite:
"'Ere dad, do you know the piano is on my foot?"
"You 'um it son, I'll play it!"

My 3 year old boy likes watching The Mr Men Show on demand.five, though it's a far cry from the original Mr Men books. Simon Callow is the narrator of the show, though really he only does an opening and closing monologue. In much the same way that Stirling Moss opens and closes each ep of Roary the Racing Car.
