QI ~ Double Landlocked

Here's an easy one for everyone. smiley - winkeye

There are lots of land-locked countries in the world ~ Andorra, Belarus, Chad, Ethiopia and many others.

But there are only 2 who are double-landlocked ie all the countries around them are also land-locked.

Anyone care to have a go ? There are klaxons for any countries that are not even single-landlocked.

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship.

smiley - ok I'm game.

Mongolia and the Slovakia.

First two options, as they must be in Central Eurasia, surely!

This is one of the things I used to know that have leaked out of my sieve-like mind. But something in my head is saying Luxembourg, and the other is in Asia...

Uzbekistan and Lichtenstein (or however you spell it).

A while ago the Crown Prince of Lichtenstein threatened to secede his personal realms from the Duchy because he wanted more powers. This would have created a trebly-landlocked country.

On a totally off-topic line ~ Went to see Lenny Henry in Othello - Very poor direction, but the audience loved it.

However the quality of direction was such that whenever someone said "Honest Iago" they laughed. They'd totally missed the point that you're supposed to feel pain that Othello was so misled.

However the Saturday matinee was the worst - my daughter was working it, and apparently they booed Iago at the end ! Obviously thought it was a panto.

At least it got a lot of people to go and see Shakespeare who'd never been before.

Malabarista - now with added pony

Is that really a QI, rather than just a quiz question? Maybe a better way of putting it would've been something like "What property do Uzbekistan and Lichtenstein have in common?" smiley - 2cents

Feisor - -0- Generix I made it back - sortof ...

Re Othello - I saw a production recently and Iago was played by a woman.

Very effective - it was implied that the character was lesbian and the jealousy and revenge motive was there as well as the need for power,

One of my favourite plays - I love the different interpretations possible. It's almost a different play for each director and the direction is really important.

Clive the flying ostrich: Amateur Polymath | Chief Heretic.

I remember seeing a documentary that used Othello as a template for examine 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees intentional relationships.

Othello believes (1) Iago's lies about (2) Desdemona so thinks Desdemona doesn't love (3) him

It was argued that a chimp couldn't understand Othello.
