Elvis visited our library yesterday for
our birthday celebration. We had a display
window full of Elvis memorabilia. Elvis
looked very handsome in his black tuxedo
and white shirt and black tie.

Right now we have him standing on the
circulation desk.

A golden retriever named Elvis?
You could do that.

What's not to like about golden retrievers?
They usually have nice dispositions, which is
why so many of them end up as seeing-eye dogs.
I prefer golden Labrador retrievers, but there
are lots of other breeds (including mutts) that
can be very friendly and lovable.

My sister had dogs when I was a little kid, but
they were mean, ugly-tempered things. The neighbors
had much nicer dogs....smiley - erm

That's okay... I had a golden/chow mix named coyote. smiley - erm She got that name because when I first got her the vet had to shave her. She was a rescue and her fur was thoroughly matted plus she had been abused. smiley - sadface She had to be shaved so extensively she only had full fur left on her face and tail, making her look alot like Wile E Coyote. Hence the name.

Subsequent shavings (to help her with the summer heat, she had way too much fur to be living in a hot climate) were better and the groomer would leave a mane and her tail. smiley - erm Then she looked more like the cowardly lion.

A woman in my neighborhood had a gargantuan
golden retriever named Butch. The woman herself
was so tiny that she probably weighed less than
the dog. She could have gotten on his back and
ridden him like a smiley - pony. smiley - biggrin

Some of those big dogs actually have very
nice dispositions. It's the little tiny ones
that are often mean and noisy.
