A Conversation for Utopia Cafebar

Hi Purplejenny and all at the Utopia ( and the very fact that there is a Utopia Bar means that there IS a utopia, generally speaking...I refer to the other thread and have to agree with Jenny...but that's just me creeping, cos it's my first visit and I'd hate to upset the gaffer!)
The Unmentionable Marauding Pillowcase, he who must not be spoken of (or if you do, it should be in hushed and reverential tones - who sniggered?!?!? ), suggested that I poke me nose round the door and say'Hi'.
'Hi'
And then partake of interesting chit-chat and the odd glass or two of something pleasant...but it's late and I guess most people are in their beds and cuddling their pillowcases...sssshh, not hushed enough!
I'll pop back in an utopian moment or six and hope to meet you all then.
Nightnight!

Jesus its dark in here. Sticky floor too. Hello? Hello? (echo) Is there a secret password or something? Some happydude with cuddly toys dragged me in here...said something about strippers. Ah, there's the lightswitch. GOD ALMIGHTY! Look at this mess. Bloody cake crumbs all over the floor. It's like Goldilocks and the three bears...except with cake...and there's no bears...and I'm not blonde...but the same in every other way. What in the world is a stuffed dingo doing on the wall? Sod it, I'm making myself a drink.

What are you two standing around here for? Go to the Noticeboard, or to the bar, where Purplejenny is waiting for people and hoping for fun.

hello
welcome to the utopia cafebar.
I'm afraid I have been very busy this week, and haven't been around to welcome you. Please imagine yourself a pleasant drink and some nibbly type food, and settle in.
Mr Pillowcase, as he sometimes calls himself is a very nice chap, who seems to go on a bit about utopia, and since its something I've been thinking about and other people on h2g2 are thinking about, i thought it might be nice to provide imaginary armchairs, cake and tea.
I think I'm hoping for a different future than what seems likely - potential ruin of our planet, the powerful dominating the weak, and some dystopian hyper-capitalist super-techno nightmare type thing.
Our present situation: we're a species on a planet that we have dominated and now may well be endangering by our actions. some of us are hungry, homeless, without even the most basic needs fulfilled.
It seems to me that this ain't good enough, and we must think of better ways to live in the future, and plan for how to make that happen. Not a simple task or one that we can sort out here, but something that must become a part of everyones mindset- we can be dead clever when we try, and already have most of the answers we need.
errr..
i could go on, but i'll leave you to your drinks for now.
I'm going to be making a few updates to this page over the weekend, I hope, but feel free to dive into any forum or conversation, post links or rants on the noticeboard, relax, stay cool, enjoy.
love from purplejenny

Hi PJ,
And thanx for the welcome! It would seem that Mr.Case was correct when he suggested I pop over and meet the folk at Utopia! He said it would be my sort of place.
After what you said in your introductory welcome *raises glass and salutes the sentiment* you might like to have a look at a project that I'm working on ( although I've already been advised that it is unlikely to accepted into the Guide 'proper' ) that is trying to get people to actually LOOK at what we're doing to this place where we all live and become involved in some way or way another.....give it a look, your thoughts ( and contributions?) would be much appreciated - as would anybody who's interested in helping!!
Thanks for the welcome once again!

Yes, Jenny, please check out these pages by TheOkapi: they are similar to what we're doing here. I think it will be a good idea, seeing as you are updating the cafébar, to put links to H.I.P. up there; it has info relevant to our discussions.

What O!
I figured that the more people get hear about the Utopia, the more people will visit, the more they will become (we hope!) aware of what's going on, the more they will do etcetcetc...
Advertise! That's what I say!

hello okapi - I've really enjoyed and linked to your HIP stuff. far out, froody and full of the kind of realistic optimism i like.
Well, I've been a busy girl this weekend, my homepage, the history of fashion page, and the utopia cafebar page have been done up a bit, and a brand new noticeboard page is up.
I have advertised the utopia cafebar as suggested, and invited people along. Also, some of your links and the HIP page links have been posted on the new noticeboard page. I'd like to try to keep that for notices, links, and links to articles, lengthy rants, and pictures, and maybe keep the debate threads here, but theres no predicting what'll happen with the pages really.
Could I ask anyone who wants to to get posting on the noticeboard?
*slides over a PGGB, served with a small slice of lemon wrapped around a gold brick*
lots of love

Unpredictable - I like it! Lets' just make it all up as we go along and see where we end up!
I'm gonna put postings there soon - I was leafing through some old pre-internet writings of mine and I came across some interesting stuff.

Could you plase send me an important numerical fractional string, which you would like the fractional,(X/Y), equiv. to!,? <{like, ya know, ",25", which'ld be 1/4, or perhaps, ".333333333....", which'ld be 1/3}>!
'I Am' just in love w/ converting fractional,('<'1!), Decimals: into whole #'ed fractions! THNX.LRD: for my B.(lessed) E.(vent), which You fored my 2Co5:1,"Tent", to under go, some 2&2/3 DECADES ago! THNX.LRD<-1Th5:16-18!)!
What's PGGB?
BUT: MAINLY: 'how' do I, an Over the Hill Gent,(Michael Morningstar!), find the correct woman to share the mutual gift of each other's Virginity in marriage?(or, is this 'Virginity' thing, over rated?::::>In any case, "HOW" do I get married?
The movie,"The Last American Virgin", had too many bouncing Vans in it, to believe the protaganist was still a Virgin, Right?
BUT: 'I AM'! (Ex3:14!). PLEASE: readers of this note, (413)596-0076,<{if busy, -8953!}>, tell me: 'How' I can find a Coital SHARER, ie., a Wife, for ;life!<-?

Just popping in while doing some bicycle deliveries. What a lovely smell. Tasty cake and a steaming cup of deeply rich Columbian coffee. Ahh, I see you're making a tape. Care to add Fish Heads? The Canadian Kazzoo Orchestra doing the theme to 2001? The Emelda Marcos Tap Dancing Troupe's inspiring (but somewhat overly done) 1812 Overture? No? How about Hit Me With Your Rythm Stick...that was a hit in England wasn't it?
As for you...the lonely guy at the bar with the 'I just want to meet somebody' sorry look in your eyes...I live in Asia and am happy to report that many of my Indian female friends are incredibly happy that they are Indian...and female. Because if they ever fail to meet up with anyone, their parents can arrange it for them later in life. As it's somewhat traditional, a dowery (sp?) of goats is involved somewhere along the line...so might I suggest the purchase of some livestock, the bragging about of which at your local vindaloo merchant might bring you some form of result.

and smell !! I'll have a large mug, ta! Oh please, Dicso(mis-spelt deliberately!)? How about a little of the mellower, instrumental trax that Zappa used to do...! Or perhaps some Yes...oo, oo, Rick Wakeman and his wonderfully overblown 'Six Wives of Henry the Eighth'!! Ok, maybe a little too much...well, it's either that or 'Agadoo' and 'The Birdy Song'( )
So nice to see folk in here after the festivities, not feeling too I hope?
*sips and sighs in appreciation*
This is just excellent, PJ!

'Agadoo' and 'The Birdy Song' PLEASE !!!!!!!!
any miss-spellings are due to 1: I hate this keyboard, 2: I cant type, 3: I cant spell, 4: I'm too lazy to proof read.

In this instance, it's down to the wimmins! The ultimate 70's put-down, overheard in a club of that era, when a Dancing King was flaunting himself in front of some poor unfortunate, in the hope of pulling something other than a muscle: " Mmmm, you've got a dick - so?!"
And it's stuck with me ever since!!
Or is it a case of 'I guess you had to be there'?
But I still think Zappa would be good...we could compromise, and play HIS Dicso anthem: 'Dancing Fool'! Yeaaahy!
