I'm going to raise a theological maths debate...
Heathen Sceptic Posted May 3, 2005
"1. You ask yourself these questions,
a)Where was God when this was happening"
don't believe in the Christian God, but in gods
"b)The wages of sin (according to xtianity is death and suffering) What was the young girls sins."
Don't believe in sin, but in wyrd.
"c)Will she be held responsible if she never ever believes in mankind leave alone God whom she has never seen."
Not applicable. See (a) above. Wyrd and orlog apply to everyone, but those are different concepts.
"2. Why is there no direct co-relation between doing good and prospering. "
Wyrd. And orlog. And luck.
"3. Xtianity argues that God intended us to have a good life here on earth and later on in heaven."
Not my religion. I'll leave this and the next one for the Christians.
"5. What is really our purpose here on earth. (I mean why did God create us knowing very well that down the line man will sin and the wages of sin is eternal suffering)."
Do you have any questions for the non-Christians?
"6. When all is said and done, I think religion is even more of a farce than God. Its intended to keep humans in chech just like state laws are meant to."
My religion is recognised by the state, doesn't have churches and has no God, jusr gods and people and a whole heap of other unseen wights. All of whom like except my housewight who referes calvados, but will accept cider (as long as it's locally made).

"That's fine HS. I think you'll find that, insofar as I've become aware of any such charges, I've complied fully within the strictures you cite."
Personally, I'd hate to think my comments were perceived by any intelligent and reasonable person as distressing and harassing, let alone a 15 year old, and would simply adjust my conversation to ensure they could not be so perceived. I don't give a stuff about sexual or not, but that sort of innuendo does tend to make it even more embarrassing, for all concerned.
Anyone with half a brain can obey the letter of any code whilst driving a coach and horses through its purpose. I suppose it depends what one wishes to achieve. Gradually losing the respect of one's long term interlocutors is a distinct possibility. One always has to balance short term gratification against long term aims, which is such a bore when the id and the ego are not in agreement. Have a and reconsider.

And how many times do you think about certain people and they do not ring at that moment or bump inot them?
Statistically, you will think about someone just before they ring you. However, the times this happens is not statistically significant with regards to it being telepathy.
Telepathy does not exist. If it did the people doing it would not just be appearing on the stage or on chatshows.

Bottom line on that link Shifty
<>
It's another form of stage show ("resonating cavities between the earth's surface and the ionosphere" )
Do you honestly think that if there was real evidence of telepathy, or any clue as to how it might work, that the scientists wouldn't be all over it looking for a Nobel Prize?

oooo, I love this :D:D Right, well.... I think that everyone needs SOMETHING to believe in, and I suppose, why not God? However, Christianity isn't my cup of tea, and I'm still trying to find my "something" I think that the bible is made up, for the purpose that future generations would have something to believe in. And maybe the poeple who wrote the bible did believe in what they were writing, but personally, i dont belive in heaven/hell/god, but i would like to believe that it doesnt just end when we die. Its is a scary thought. Also, and this really is stating an argument that everyones heard before, IF GOD IS SO GOOD WHY DOES HE LET PEOPLE GET CANCER?!?!?! and why does he let wars start, and people with such few morals run a country?! I just don't understand, it is all very confusing to me!! V good topic tho

Hi TotallyAddicted2Bass - welcome to the thread. Seems you have popped in from post 1 and we are now on post almost 25,000 but never mind. Mostly a circular argument anyhow.

I believe Pat Robertson attempted to answer a similar question here and basically fell flat on his face . . . (link borrowed from another thread):

I don't know why you're digging this stuff up, HS. Your recall is clearly faulty. I was censured for speaking privately, not for the content of any conversation.

That's more like it, ss. An actual argument - and I might as well respond as well as remarking on it. Some topics are good because we can gain understanding by following and joining a discussion about them. Others are good because we already have much understanding and points of view to contribute.

When did the subject change to "a theological maths debate"? What IS a "theological maths debate"?
On telepathy: I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 576 thousand million billion-if there are any telepaths out there, what's my number?

Hi there, TA2Bass. Would that be 'Bass' the musical register, or 'Bass' the brewer of alcoholic beverages?
