Yes, American pancakes, since I've never had any other kind to compare them with. And yes, made from scratch in the sense that I didn't go to Cracker Barrel and order them (ooh, now *there's* an idea for next weekend ), but, well okay, they did come from a box.
Of course, the fact that it required turning on the stove and dirtying dishes makes it near-gourmet for me

What's with all the pancake goings on around here these days.
Little ellie made me make them Saturday morning and Sunday. (must be Febpancakuary or something)
My grandmother from Germany used to make panecakes like what we Americans refer to the French crepes. Thin and the size of the pan then we would cover them with her home jarred and grown current jam.
I wish one of us grandchildren had learned her knack for those pancakes!

We went on a day cruise where they served us crepes with nutmeg syrup for breakfast ... delicious!
