Here goes! Another Stretcher entry, although I recognise that being banned by North Korea is pushing the definition of "indefensible".

Good Entry
I once went to a Karaoke (fortunately I didn't have to sing ), and one of the songs on offer was 'je t'aime moi non plus'. unfortunately no-one sang it while I was there, no matter how hard we tried to convince a pair of friends. Next time we'll try with stronger
By the way, I'm sure you can cook up a link for 'Don't Panic'

This is good fun.
I'll have to avoid any events that might involve karaoke. I don't know enough songs. That's my excuse, anyway!
Whether this is defending the indefensible I don't know .
The sentence beginning 'But it does help if you are relaxed' seemed a bit odd. Perhaps it should go 'be prepared, if not to throw caution to the wind, at least to let it feel a light zephyr ruffling its hair'

This looks good enough to replace the existing Edited Entry on Karaoke. But if you want that to happen, I think you'd have to accept the names of the three unknowns who wrote A139484 as co-authors of your Entry.

Good entry, Bea.
Any chance of adding that there may be a tape running you can sing along to? I wouldn't have known without Gnomon's link to the old entry.
This is the second or third time that I have seen some reviewer doubt that the entry meets the Stretcher requirements. To be honest, much as I love the Stretcher, this is PR, and the reviewers are not the judges. I'm not sure these remarks are helpful to improve the entry. (I'm not addressing anyone in specific).

Well done
Not sure this in-joke would work in the EG.
Practise. (imperative verbs used throughout)

Thanks folks. I'm happy for it stand alongside the original entry, as I've focussed more on the survival aspect rather than going into any history. And I'm bracing myself for the likely docking of points from the Judges! (Although I dare them to take a straw poll of the next 10 people they meet and rate the reaction to a karaoke evening...)

That still leaves room, then, for someone to expand the original entry which is rather sadly lacking at the moment.

for enlightening us with this rendition It's great to see this. Just a few nitpicks:
<> should be '20th Century'.
You Could write footnote one without the footnote I believe, but if you want to keep it as it is remember that all footnotes start directly after the last letter finishes and a full stop comes directly after .
Not sure about playstation games but television programmes should be written in italics thus 'Don't Forget the Lyrics' becomes Don't Forget the Lyrics.
I have an idea, Beatrice could offer this up like it is to the stretcher first then after its been voted for etc join the other entry to it.

Crumbs - why would a dictatorship ban your entry? Danny's entry was only an Article Pending Moderation...

Well, I'm with North Korea here... Karaoke is completely indefensible. There's nothing worse than going out for a quiet drink or meal and finding yourself in the middle of a bloody Karaoke night
Very entertaining, Bea!

Yes, I can certainly see why this undignified practice would need defending from anyone in the pre completely sozzled condition.
Good one
There was one thing that made me wonder:
"Karaoke originated in Japan, but in the latter part of the 20th century it became big in the West..."
It seems to imply that it originated before the latter part of the 20th century. Would that be right?

Nice!
Two (guy) friends of mine doing Barbie Girl was extremely entertaining, I must admit.
I actually can't stand karaoke, but I think if I had to do it, it would be fun to make it as cheesy as possible. Maybe do a really serious love duet but really over-emote it.
