While walking to work this morning, I found myself pondering on my style of dressing.
For many, many years, when working at hotel level, I had to wear uniform at work. The uniforms were never very well fitting, made to look nice when standing still, but not when trying to stretch after something, lifting a box of printer paper off a shelf, and so on. Not practical at all.
This made me want to dress as comfortably as possible in my spare time, meaning jeans and T-shirt.
And then, four years ago, I started working as a Financial Controller (how did I end up being *that*?) at our Head Office (which became a Regional Office after we had been bought by a major hotel company).
I still wear jeans and T-shirt most of the time, even at work now that I don't have to wear a uniform. Which means that I don't look very representative. But I feel comfortable. With my style of dressing I'd fit in better working for the IT department (and sometimes I've felt like I do, having ended up writing manuals for systems I've never worked with).
Once having passed the age of 40, my dressing style didn't mature one bit. I wonder how old I'll be before I start dressing more formally?

What can I say - my mother dresses more and more casual as the years go by. I am sure she'll look quite hippy-ish when she'll be 80. Atm she's 63 and jeans and pullovers are her favourites. So much about mature dressing style.

Dressing for comfort is a sign of maturity.
It's the immature young ones who think it is more important who made the stuff or if it is conforming to group-pressure than how it feels.

I'm another member of the jeans and teeshirt brigade!

If it only wasn't so hard to find the jeans that fit my curves...

Thankfully I've never had to dress formally for work though in some cases it was 'casual' rather than formal (think chinos with a shirt or plain colour t-shirt). Now I'm working for somewhere that is much less formal than that so it's t-shirt and jeans, especially if it's going to be dirty work shifting computers or cleaning labs etc.
The one time I wore a suit here was for my interview and if I wore it again I'm sure I'd be asked who I was going to an interview with

My wonky foot is making it difficult for me to dress in a business-like fashion these days. Skirt suits don't look too great with my Reeboks. So, I have been wearing slacks to work. And getting away with it. Which makes me wonder if this wasn't providential. I may never go back to wearing suits and dresses on a regular basis.

I'd just like to note, at this point, that I read the full backlog too... but I have a shortfall of things worth saying. But as for dressing style - I'd put comfort first, any time.

... Me too - I read, but feel like such a boring git, and rarely post...
*wonders why posted this, and who would care to read it*

I read a lot of conversations that I never respond to either, Ivan (sometimes I just sit and nod in agreement - because no one will see me doing it) - in this case, I was just very impressed with Phil since I knew he had been battling his way through some serious Atelier backlog after having been away for a couple of days...

No the size of the backlog at the atelier is serious.
The backlog itself can be light hearted and jovial as well as serious (lest any potential lurkers/new salonistas get the wrong impression )

OK, serious *amount* of Atelier backlog then - which always seems to be the case if one has been away for just a day or two without Internet access...
