*briefly surfaces*
Not to worry if you don't see me online for a couple of days - I'm on vacation and am spending my time frenetically playing Oblivion.
I bought the game a couple of years ago, but haven't owned a computer that I could play it on until recently.
And this game exceeds most of my expectations of PC games.
1. Graphics
Man, these folks must have been working on these graphics for years - the sceneries are wonderful, the sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous, and the facial expressions of the NPCs are priceless!
Of all the factors of a game, graphics is what matters to me most - pretty graphics will enchant me.
2. Music
Yep, I'm one of those freaks that actually prefer ingame music rather than playing my own choice of music while playing (defining myself as a freak since I play WoW with the ingame music on, which seems to be rather unusual).
Oblivion has the complete symphony orchestra and choir - the real stuff as opposed to electronically generated sounds. The intro music still raises my pulse.
3. My options
Never before have I played a game where my choices have such a great effect - I've had a dark elf shopkeeper refuse to deal with me when my character had become a vampire - I had a wood elf running away from me screaming after my character had embraced the Dark Brotherhood and become *really* evil. Everything my character does seem to have several effects, and I'm really enjoying exploring them.
4. Marathon playing
Now, I've read about this in player magasines, but never thought I'd do any such thing myself, especially since I don't use drugs.
Well, guess what? A couple of days ago I stayed awake for 36 hours in a row. Two of those hours were spent going to buy some food since I had run out of it. The remaining 34 hours were spent playing. Once I got into the 'second breath' as we say in Swedish, there was just no stopping me. I only went to bed because I felt it might be the most sensible thing to do at the time, not because I felt the need for it.
Yep, I'm addicted, and I plan to stay so until I've exhausted all possible options/choices - or until I get so sick of the game that I puke.

Enjoy the addiction!
Although this may mean that I need to find this game and also become addicted...

I loved Oblivion! I played it and played it and played it until I didn't have anything left to do but be a bad guy and I didn't want to lose my fabulous armour.
I'm giving it some time, then I'm going to play it again as a bad guy from the start.

Then you know just how I felt when I bought the game a couple of years ago, FamousFi - indeed!
Almost fell off my chair yesterday from sheer laughter - I had found out there's a unicorn in the Oblivion world.
After some initial trouble, my character managed to mount it and ride off into the sunset.
Only trouble is that this unicorn seems to wander off randomly unless stabled - so I stabled her.
As I was leaving, I heard sounds of fighting. Oh my - I had forgotten that you can't actually purchase a riding horse at this specific stable, since it's owned by an orch who prefers eating them.
And this orch had obviously decided the unicorn would be her next meal.
Unfortunately, the unicorn attacks anyone who draws a weapon (including its owner ) so it knocked the orch unconscious.
Orch recovers, they fight, unicorn knocks orch out.
Repeat ad finitum.
In the end, after laughing myself silly, I decided to load a saved game and do without the unicorn - it is a cool creature, but creates too much trouble to be worth the effort in the end.

Ha, I'd have liked to have seen that.
I didn't find a unicorn. You're making me want to load up the game and start being bad.

Head due east from the Ill Omen Inn - when you see minotaurs up ahead, you're really close.
You can choose to fight the minotaurs - in which case, you must remember *not* to draw a weapon within sight of the unicorn - or you can make a dash, jump up on the unicorn's back and ride off.
The unicorn won't have a hostile reaction towards magical spells though, so those are OK to use to kill the minotaurs.
My character is currently teamed up with the Jemane brothers, and of course the unicorn would attack *them* the moment they drew their weapons - one of the main reasons I gave up the idea of having a unicorn for a stead.
The moment you dismount, it'll attack anything that displays a weapon - even imperial guards, which might get you into some real trouble...

'What is it you want? You were told to stay out of my sight! I'll assume you're here to tender a resignation.
You've done WHAT?
With Oreyn? He was dismissed! I should expel you now!
Because of your actions, I'm hereby stripping you of the ranks of Champion! You were reckless, foolhardy, and dangerous to yourself and the Guild!
*hangs head in shame*
They were also brave, and necessary. Because of this, I am hereby naming you Master of the Fighters Guild, effective immediately.'
Oh - hang on a moment - Master? How? Why? What? When? Me?

I want somebody else who isn't an Oblivionista to read this lot......
? !
Never mind. It keeps 'em off the streets.
But I *do* blame the parents.
Wanders off muttering, and looking anxiously behind her.

Err...
I enjoy reading about games but only play Mah Jong, solitaire and jigsaw puzzles. Right now my daughter (36), her bf and grandson A. 6 plays a LEGO version of Star Wars.
