I've been feeling poorly since Friday but now I'm completely unable to think about doing anything other than going back to bed

Coughing, sore throat, concrete chest, headache, eyes like rissoles in the snow.



I'll be better by the weekend as we're going out for Xmas dinnerand at my sister's home in Nettleton for the whole day on Boxing Day.

Hi everyone and thanks for the and best wishes.

I can't stomach (is how I know I'm ill) but am taking hot berry powders made up with hot water, and eating toast, which is about all I can face. Just got up for the loo and another hot drink then back to bed. Just keep taking the meds

I don't have jabs BMT, on account of what's in 'em. Don't mind if others decide to though, I took my Mum for hers and she is very well. As is everyone else in my family and Gordon, so I haven't any idea why it's hit me

I'm very sorry to hear that you've got the flu.

I contracted the HK flu, Xmas 1971 and was unconscious 3 days. It took me a very long time to recover.

I've caught the flu since, one of the less serious varieties, when vaccinations that were supposed to be provided in the workplace were delayed. Not nearly as bad as the HK flu, but pretty bad and ever since its been my habit to get the vaccination as soon as it becomes available.

I could have gotten it free this past season through the VA system, but that would have meant a delay of about a month and cost more on the commute than the price of the vaccination at the local drug store, so I just handled it that way, as early in the season as possible.

Something I found helpful last time around, a strong chamomile tea, 1 tbspn, brewed in a cup of straight lemon juice, sweetened to taste (almost syrupy), served hot.

I think I have a new favourite simile in the form of 'eyes like rissoles in the snow'. Goodness, how odd. Thanks for that bit of phrasing.

Flu is not my favorite, either.

Got a touch after my flu shot this year. Dealing with that many members of the public from all over the world is just begging for it, especially handling all the cash.

Luckily, it's easy to maintain a certain level of toxicity in the bloodstream in this vicinity.

Maybe you should try Thai Coconut Penicillin (Malibu and Chicken Soup)
