Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor

Today is the first day of Autumn, and the Moon is full. I'm off to sign my new Will this morning then I'll head back here to raise a toast to Terri on her 55th birthday and also be with the mourners in spirit at her funeral in Ireland - I'll light a candle.

It's also the anniversary of the day Paul died in 1974. He was my first boyfriend and he died of cancer aged just 19. What's it all about, Alfie?

I'm supposed to be visiting the Alzheimer's home with Gordon and Snoopy this afternoon 2-3pm as part of the Pets As Therapy he's joined, but I am not sure I really want to go.

Andrew is still at Army Camp (until tomorrow night) so the house is pretty quiet. Funny the things you miss.

A strange day overall. Anyone want to share a hug? smiley - hug

Gnomon - time to move on

It's only the first day of Autumn in the US and in central Europe. As far as I know, in the UK Autumn has always started on the 1st of September.

I think the Pets As Therapy would probably help you as much as the folk you visit!

I can always talk to the big gray feral cat next door. He's always got something to cheer me up. smiley - smiley

Maybe PAT would be the ideal thing?

Guinea pigs are highly recommended for Pets As Therapy, because they carry no diseases that a human can catch, so it is safe to bring them into hospitals. The late Peter Gurney, Britain's most enthusiastic guinea pig owner, used to be bring many of his 85 guinea pigs into Great Ormond Street Hospital to brighten up the days of the children there.

Sho - employed again!

blimey!
I mean - I absolutely adore Guinea Pigs and to be honest my little MacKenzie was one of the best pets I've ever had.

But I'm horribly horribly allergic to them - even outside if I'm too close I get asthma and the rest.

So - how stringent are the checks for allergies and things for that kind of event?

Yes - our guinea pigs lost their charm when eyes started swellng up and going red, too. (not mine, but then, I wasn't "responsible" for them. I just fed, cleaned and took them to the vets)

Not the guinea pigs' eyes, either. Sons Nos 2 and 3.

Thankfully, none of us are allergic. We've had 10 piggies over the last 12 years.
