I'm not surprised this is "amicable", as some *experts* are on BBC News 24. The Americans will be dependant upon Russian for trips to the ISS after the Space Shuttle is mothballed, one trip to go!

Are we getting soft? Or sensible? I think there's a lot more at stake than just the shuttle and the ISS. Not having to live in the constant fear of nuclear strikes makes my life at 52 a lot more comfortable than it was at 22.
I'm sure espionage goes on every day, but I thought it was telling that the Russian representative said they never gathered anything better than what was on the Internet. I guess "on the ground" has a different meaning now...
More talking, less saber rattling.

Not hearing Bond theme or Shirley Bassey, sorry.
Not near as interesting as it once was, thankfully.

I was in tears of joy when the wall came down. Never thought I would live to see the day. Still very very happy about it
Now we can focus on bringing peace to the middle east. All will benefit from it
Except maybe for North Korea

Not so fast - I see that Obama is considering extending the shuttle program
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/6957758.html
but not indefinitely. It looks like rockets will replace the shuttles, alas.
So, bottom line, I guess we do need to suck up to the russians if we want to hitch rides.
(great post article, btw - stunning shot of shuttle and station )
