the greatest has to be Paul the octopus
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/10566287.stm
Today he's going to pick a flag to predict the winner of the World Cup... I'm on (8) tenterhooks! I've seen him on BBC News this morning and they're joking that if you bet on his result you might win a few squid
But apparently some people want to eat him???

I hope that's not allowed, or it will be a tragedy worse than a disallowed goal for England.

seems he did pick for the third place play-offs
we shall see - he's often right and it would be nice for Europe to have a clean sweep!

Humans are famous for fifteen minutes - most octopi expect about two years. Hope he wins so they find him a girlfriend...

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Jul 12, 2010
So who won, the octopus or the cockatoo?

Beatrice Posted Jul 12, 2010
I believe the octopus got all his correct (but I also heard that the box he picked was always on the right, so maybe the real star is the person who decided what box was to go on the right...)

Paul the octopus http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8809710.stm but I haven't been following the cockatoo, as I only found out about it last night and I was nowhere near a computer
