What GB's getting for Christmas

but , you must admit that you have a nice memory about your folks helping you out back then when you bought your house
my in-laws helped me out once. i absolutely hated it, but for the sake of my then wife i accepted the offer. i'm glad i've put it behind me now

Indeed - I've been really grateful for that ever since. Without that help, we'd have been living in a house that, to be honest, was a dump compared to this one. Currently the street we *would* have been living down is being torn down by the council!

my friend should be so lucky! she found out she could might not be able to afford the house she bought and - in spite of me warning her not to - sold it with a substantial loss
now it is being torn down by the council, so if she had hung on to it - like i suggested - she would not have lost a penny

At the velocity that that lump would have been travelling, even that wouldn't have made a difference if it had landed on one's head
