Full Moon among the bees with the crab
Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Jan 29, 2009
Anyone with a good south-westerly view right now should be looking out into the sky. There's a gorgeous sliver of a new moon (which looks in binoculars) complete with studded-diamond Venus just to the moon's left and slightly above.

I thought that must be Venus I saw last night, above and to the left of the old moon in the new moon's arms! Didn't get to look long, though, because I was driving an unfamiliar car to a class in a building surrounded by trees, and the moon had set by the time I got out.

Have a look when it gets dark, Tal
You were lucky to see it last night, Amy! And I have almost crashed my car while moongazing so I wouldn't advise looking for it while driving

Saw it!
Possibly photos online later, if they transfer across okay.
Oh, and are you sure that wasn't Saturn?

Tomorrow evening (Fri), they should be even closer than tonight. They should be within four degrees of each other. Venus just south of the crescent moon.

Hoggy has just texted me to say he's seen Comet Lulin from the map I provided him with.
I've been out since the rain stopped but it's still too cloudy I did see Saturn though
