And I also prefer them with black caviar.
The Russians make them from a special mix of flour, but don't ask me which ones.

*nips over to the fridge, hoping that -- yes! the bottle of Grey Goose she surreptitiously stashed there along with the beer is resting comfortably and perfectly chilled.*
Some hold with popping it in the freezer for an hour, so as to make it thick and viscous. But..eh.
*brings it over to the table and sets it by the northerly offerings*
l'm half-tempted to run out for some aquavit.
*snags herself some gravlax and a few blinis (sans caviar), for starters, eyeing the turkey interestedly*
l think they use buckwheat flour in blinis, yes?

In addition to preparing for the trip I have had to spend my spare time getting the house prepared in case the hurricane comes here just after I have left. What a send off!
Anyway, thanks for the good wishes, everybody. If I do get a chance to got online, I'll post an entry to my journal about how things are going.
