Must be going.
Lil, if I can't manage to be back, before you leave: have a nice stay in NM.
Bye, folks

*a brief visit before taking the dog to the kennel*
When I get back, will I be able to ~understand~ the backlog? Last thing I'll do tonight is start a new thread. And if it looks to be getting enigmatic, why, I'll just start yet another new thread when I get back.
OJ please, Matina. And a cinnamon bun, no icing. This will be harrowing, hearing Gretta wail like a baby as she realises I'm leaving her behind.

She didn't wail too much. We didn't give her the chance. And I beat the rain by less than an hour. Hurricane Gordon is heading this way!
So I have had to batten the house down a bit, just in case, although it's only a category 1 storm.

Ahhh..So it's the east coast. Your well being comes to mind whenever I catch the weather chan and it says Florida is getting hit.
BTW, thanks for your assistance re:OTD.

Hmmm. The Chambers Dictionary confirms my view that a kidologist is one who deceives as a joke for psychological advantage.
Surely not, Lil.

With a capital K, it's someone who studies Billy the Kid.
Actually, the initial line of squalls have passed and it's sort of watery sunshine now. So I can get some more work done on my desktop machine.
Meanwhile, Matina has roasted two turkeys and done all the traditional accompaniments for us. Mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, gravy, hot rolls, green peas, broccoli, and cauliflower au gratin. And there is mince pie, apple pie and ice cream.
Everybody, please join me!

Mmm... Cornbread stuffing. I could eat a whole pan of the stuff. Any coffee icecream?
*what??*
Stop looking at me like that.

Not on the same plate, dear. We can send Ampton out to Baskin Robbins for whatever you want.
*heaps plate from array of chafing dishes on table. Mmm, cranberry jelly...

Oh, yessss!
Don't mind if I do.*proceeds to heap platter with some of everthing (except cranberries-yechk, gack, no way!)*
Family tradition, ya know. I'm not large but, I fill it to the top and save trips. The only reason for a second plate is for desserts.
BTW, that's a chocolate sheet cake with fudge icing, if of course, anybody is interested.
WM, any carrot cake? hmmmm?

mushrooms and giblets in the gravy, yum. You don't like cranberries?
I still remember sitting at table at my grandmother's house, watching the dishes arrive. Traditional Pennsylvania-Dutch style, with "seven sweets and seven sours" on the table along with the main course.
That's why we have all these gherkins and olives and pickled cabbage on the table, too.

G'evening folks,
so, at last I manage to come back on time
Do I smell turkey? May I have a piece, please, plus cranberries, of course.

That's the way we do it w/my dad's family. Usually 10-12 feet of food tables and 5-8 ft of desserts(lengths determined by number that shows up).
And, no, I don't like cranberries; I detest them. I'd rather be albastered than eat cranberries. Mistakenly got some in my mouth by way of jello salad a couple of years ago and was wiping my mouth out with napkins.*shudder* What a horrendifurous experience. Gave my Bride the laugh of the day, tho. She still enjoys telling that one.
I make a pretty mean sage and onion dressing w/giblets and mushrooms. You'll hafta try it sometime.
BTW, anyone for potatoe salad (mircle whip/mustard style)? Had to make some for the in-laws Sep. birthday gathering and made extra? Really, it's pretty good, if I do say so.(Although it keeps in the fridge pretty well and actually tastes better aged.) Never get to bring any home. Right up there with my chili. Speaking of which, can't wait for cooler weather.
Good eats, Matina.

Hi all!
I hope you'll have a nice trip, Lil! Did you say you were travelling by bus or train?
I brought some...
- 'gravlax' raw spiced salmon (yep, people say there are some similarities between Swedish and Japanes cooking)
- 'köttbullar' Swedish meatballs
- 'blinies' not-so-Swedish small buckwheat pancakes served with sour cream and 'löjrom' whitefish roe (I prefer that to the black caviar)
- 'Janssons frestelse' Janssons's temptation made of potatoes, anchovy, cream, onion
- a self-refillable bottle of 'Absolut Vodka' to go with the blinies
*pours herself a Y of champagne, cuddling Springie*

Wow, this is great.
jr, the carrot cake will be here in a few minutes. If you can't wait, I'll send a slice or 2 to Your Space.
*fixes up a plate with a little bit of everything on it*
