Best bon mot: from Agapanthus (491), "...the Renaissance was when Europe Went Totally Retro And Greek Was The New Black."
And d'E right after: "Alternate career path for a pope? Infallibility definitely has its uses - I think proofreader, fact checker or quality-assurance testing would be ideal."
Most informative post: MR on priestly celibacy and history (503)
Best non sequitur: Post 726.
Best retrieval of obscure trivia was by Teuchter (1855).

As the conversation opened and salonistas found comfortable places, the meltmeltmeltmelt project was soon resumed for the Scandinavians and Hibernians. Count Spracula was able to revert to Bluebottleness early on. Mr. Dreadful was stabbed to death in LARP World and later revealed to be co-starring in a Regency novel, as a zombie. Football frenzy swept the salon, followed by a plume of Icelandic ash, and Sporky finally rejoined us as Sulking is Easy. Europeans commented in hushed tones on the clarity of the sky and the absence of contrail-induced clouds while the skies were clear of jets.
Topics of Note

And so here we are once again, milling around in the foyer as the bots finish cleaning the salon and refilling the samovar. Two hundred and fifty-five conversations have flowed under the bridge: let's celebrate as we celebrate the 256th. Please make yourselves at home!

Happy birthday, Hyp.

To think, our current conversations are 40 times longer than they were originally. The march of progress or just getting more talkative...

I was just very lucky that we had a quiet patch and I clicked refresh at the right time.
Phil: I think it's a case of both we've got better at reading longer threads and they've now bred hamsters can cope with so many pages on one link. Talking of which, I hope they've fed the Live Feed hamsters up for tonight.

Slides in rapidly, before going off to put an X in a box.
What has the X done to deserve being boxed?

I would have been here sooner but after voting I had to come home and make a ballot box out of a shoe box so that t'Boy could post his vote for who is going to be in charge. (He is)
