*Pulls out Mort and The Discworld Companion (Updated)*
Welllllllllll......
According to TDC's Unseen University entry, it "was founded in AM 1282 (the city count at the time) by Alberto Malich, but Ankh-Morpork dating is always suspect; suffice to say it was some 2000 years before the present." (pg. 401)
TDC says of Albert himself, "(1222-89 by the city count of that time) Although in real years he is only about sixty-seven, he has been alive while 2000 years have passed on the Disc." (pg. 278) Which is what is also said in Mort (pg. 180).

Righty-ho. I may have mentioned my books are secluded elsewhere, so you have me at somewhat of a disadvantage. Also I don't own a copy of TDC. I must have missed Pg. 180 in Mort. (Besides I've got the Death Trilogy so my page numbering is probably different to yours.)
How are you doing with Hogfather?

Oh, well, essentially, Mort and Ysabell discuss it just after they've gone into the library to read Albert's book and knocked him out with it. Just before they wake up to find Death still not back.
As for Hogfather, I'm literally halfway through it and finding it very yummy indeed.
Although I am wondering what happened to Susan and Buddy/Imp.

Ysabell did read the node charts.
Albert has two ages. His real age (how old he was when he met Death plus any time spent on the disc susequently) and his disc age (how long ago he was born). There is hundreds of years difference between the two.

Nice chap, you say?
Hmm. I too have met him on occassion, and even interviewed him for a school magazine.
Unfortuately, while I don't doubt he's a "nice guy", and I love his books, the man gets on my nerves. At the talks he did he always seemed very... not arrogant, but completely up himself!
