My favourite episode is the 'Witchsmeller Pursuivant' just for the trial scene alone. Absolutely fantastic by Frank Finlay.

Has to be Potato with Tom Baker.
This has spawned off many a drunken chant of "He's got a womans hand!" nad anything else we can think of at the time.
PS only funny when you're drunk!

One of my favourite segments is in Series 2 when Edmund goes in search of the Wise Woman (because he fancies Bob) and asks a young crone if she knows of the Wise Woman's whereabouts.
The crone says "2 things my lord must ye know about the wise woman" "First - she is a woman!" "Second - she is..."
Edmund says ........"wise?"
Crone: "Oh, so you do know her then?"
Edmund says "No. Just a wild stab in the dark, which, incidentally you'll be getting if you don't start being more helpful"
Love it.

Yes, that's a very smart reply.
Ah, now, MY favourite...
This is difficult, because as time has passed and nothing nearly as good as BA has shown itself, ALL eps have become cherished friends.
However, as of this moment "Beer" is my favorite. Perhaps it's because I'm the mother of a (US) 21-yr-old scholar at the University of Virginia whose sodden glee club is most loquacious, liquideous, and convivial, and therefore Baldrick's party room seems highly familiar. The jokes, word play, and sight gags of this episode just keep coming faster and faster as the plot gets wilder and looser. The first time I saw it (ah! what joy!), I lost whatever was left of my discrimination when the two cross-headed Puritans entered. The rest was one long, delicious dessert!!
Yet there's much to be said for "Money." And "Head." And "Chains." In fact, I think the second season had the best pacing and jabs-per-minute of the four. Or perhaps I'm just swayed by Mr Atkinson's roguish appearance. He should never have ditched the beard. And Elizabethan attire (at least, on this side of the Atlantic) does so augment a man. But I babble . . .

If anyone has seen 'Journey's End' they will know that the set for the last series is based on this excellent anti-war play. This makes the final scene all the more poignant, honest, refreshing and truly a remarkable piece of television.

What did people think of the Millennium special?

Even apart from the ending (which, as discussed, was incredibly touching), it was a great episode in it's own right.
Baldric especially has some fantastic lines - 'Boom, boom, boom...'; 'So the poor ostrich died for nothing...' etc.

goodbyeee is wonderful and that series is my favourite. its a shame you you only ever seem to see series two, and the one episode from series 3 "ink and incapability) i think sries one is a bit weak. but none of the blackadder is bad. just some is not as good.

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque Posted Nov 8, 2003
I'd agree with that. I've always had a soft spot for series 1. Still much better than most of the other stuff around. Favourites are fairly typical, Goodbyeee being tops, but I've always liked both Dr. Johnson and the Duke in series 3.

Any episode with the excellent Miranda Richardson in. One corker - as "Queenie" - not very PC but still ranks as a classic line:
"...you know... those people with the funny faces and bells..."
"jesters ma'am?"
"no... lepers..."

Always makes me laugh...
What's odd is we had an interviewee at work today who reminded me so much of the episode where BA pretends to be mad by answering every question with the word "wibble"
had forgotten how funny that episode was until I was trying to hold back the giggles when this occurred to me mid interview...
needless to say they didn't get the job

Well they're all outstandingly funny aren't they, just reading the replies I'm laughing as I remember the moments. The more I read these the more it seems to me that fav episode is subjective because we always laugh at what we recognise, either in people we know or in ourselves. Let's face it the poignance and reality of 'Goodbyeeee' obviously gets us all. Its always interesting to view that episode in relation to the whole series because when you do that it really hits you how a whole generation was wiped out and how whole family histories, often those that had lines going far far back into British history, suddenly ended. I think it was right that Blackadder ended in WW1 (except for the millenium edition).
Personal favorite would be 'Chains' although "My God!" "Yes I suppose I am" comes close.
