Gotta be American Beauty out of the list available, but I'd vote for Toy Story 2 given the chance.

I vote for American Beauty. By far the best movie I have seen all year.

Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Mar 6, 2000
I didn't see too many movies this year, I'm afraid. But, of the films I did see, I'm going to have to vote Man on the Moon.

American Beauty.
It was absolutely wonderful.
Although I would vote for South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut if it was nominated.
We should vote for best song, since a song from South Park is nominated. I can't wait to see them preform it live.

Some of the films aren't out on this side of the Atlantic yet, so we're a little at a disadvantage. I'm torn between Sixth Sense and American Beauty. The latter has made me look at things in a whole new way, whilst the former still gives me goosebumps even when I just see the trailer on TV.
Grudgingly, I think my choice is American Beauty.
(If I suddenly develop multiple personalities, do they get a vote each?)

My vote goes to the stunning 'Three Kings', definitely the best film of the year.

Boy, I'd love to vote really I would, but I've only seen two of the films on the list: Beauty and Sense. Which really annoys me because Insider was released nationwide several weeks ago, just not *my* part of the nation. Green Mile should be here soon, but I can't see myself or anyone else choosing it for best pic. AB? Well, I've already left my thoughts about that one in my Journal (and hence why I won't be voting for it) and will probably take the Oscar since American critics (& some British ones) have gone gaga over it. Sixth Sense was quite well done, and Haley Joel Osment was quite excellent in it (my pick for Best Supporting, hell, Cruise's used to getting snubbed by now), but it's clever only in retrospect, once you learn the twist.
Insider *better* come to Taranaki this week...

From the list I would choose American Beauty - just seeing Annette Bening cry is enough to move any man's heart.
The Talented Mr Ripley - although a great film - doesn't give enough time for the formidable Cate Blanchett. For that reason and the fact that it has very little to do with the novel makes me glad that it wasn't nominated for Best Picture
And whatever happened to Sleepy Hollow - a truly great film which would get my vote..
CLARIFICATION

Some of you are listing numerous films. You do not have to vote for the oscar santioned list, but if you are going to mention others please make the actual vote as clear as humanly, vogonly, or furry blue creaturely or whateverly as possible. Cheers.

As I haven't seen the Green Mile yet, I'll have to vote for the Sixth Sense . I still feel that I should have realized what was going on... Well done. Not so many pictures manage to surprize me nowadays.

Having not seen any of the nominated pictures, I have to go with GreyRose and SouthPark. I laughed *so* much that evening

I vote for Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut".
Okay, so the oscars, Golden Globe, Empire Awards have all been guilty of ignoring Stanley Kubrick's last masterpeice, but that is no reason why H2G2 should. Stanley Kubrick is the director who brought us such films as "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Dr Strangelove: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb", "The Shining", "Full Metal Jacket", and has he been awarded oscars? No. And now he won't be able to as he has died. All the other films have been directed by people who are alive, and have chances to win awards for future films - Kubrick doesn't have that chance.
It is my very strongly felt opinion that the ONLY person and ONLY film deserving awards is Kubrick and Eyes Wide Shut.

I really enjoyed Stewart Little.
