I did have an idea.
But I have not myself the knowledge or know-how or time to put it into action.....
In essence it were to be a kind of 'trail' round various pubs in central London (keeping em to the main tube zones to save people on prices on the underground, and also so they'd be on the main routes that the Station Link busses opperate over).
Kind of like a 'quizz', wehre they'd be clues to lead to each new pub smiley - alesmiley - erm I'd not worked out a way of giving confirmation* to each 'team' having visited each pub; though thinking aobut it most people seem to have the mobiles now with the cameras, so maybe that'd work smiley - erm it'd mean having to all meet up at some point early afternoon, to organise into teams and dish out the 'sheets' with the clues on or whatever it is.... smiley - erm Though as I say, I've not sufficient knowledge of London geography to allow me to figure out the route or the questions smiley - erm it'd kinda be like the photo skavenger hunt we did a fair few years back, only with more empthesis on pubs smiley - erm : and I'd also thought that it could include a couple of pubs at suitable times in the afternoon which do food, allowing people to eat something; as the food in the Bell Book and Candle (if we go there again), finishes early at about 5 PM on a Saturday smiley - ermsmiley - hotdog

Souds like a good idea, my ex hubby's rugby club did something like that on thier annual pub crawl, you got a list of pubs and you had to answer a questions, or identify something like a picture behind the bar to prove you'd been in

I'm not really here

It's going to be bloody cold wandering the streets in January - especially if we're going to have this 'killer winter' they keep talking about.

It was at the winter meet, but this year we're all going to have bird flu so maybe we should just stay in the pub. smiley - winkeye

I couldn't say no at the time, I worked there by then - I think. This time I can say, sod off. Although if the pub lets dogs in I won't mind. The dogs can have a nice walk followed by a nice lie down in the pub. smiley - biggrin

Last year was good, with a cultural and a drinking option. That way we could all meet sober and would still have a meeting place for the drinking later. Coming from down 'ere, if I'd been late I'd have missed everyone if you'd been on a pub route already smiley - smiley

I always thought the idea of doing something in the afternon was for people with families who couldn't make an evening event but still wanted to join in and meet up. A pub crawl would rule that out but in the past we've done an event or a museum trip, somethign that didn't cost too much.

For example: The Imperial War Museum is free, has a number of different parts to interest everyone, a special exhibition about what was was like for children http://london.iwm.org.uk/server/show/conEvent.381 space outside for dogs or children to run, a very good cafe, is near to some pubs and 5 minutes walk from the London Eye. It's easy to get a smiley - bus to the evening event.

Yes, maybe something like that; last year we went to the National Gallery and all met up in the pub whenever we were ready smiley - smiley

The first meet I attended there was an option of a walk round Lincoln's Inn or Board Games in the Pub, how about board games or cards for those that don't want to visit the Science Museum again, and some pubs (Weatherspoons) will let kids in the Family areas
