think fantasy, little people
Quotes - Who said them?
magrat Posted Feb 25, 2002
hah! Just like you to insult us in the form of a clue. But I still don't know.

Wolfie Posted Feb 25, 2002
Would it be Time Bandits by any chance? That's about the only fantasy with little people that I can think of.

Roundley The Terminator Posted Feb 25, 2002
I don't know the answer (yet) to 'it went away', but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Time Bandits. I'm pretty sure it's a woman (female--given fantasy theme) speaking to a man (male). The message is "what do you mean you don't love me anymore?", but I just can't place the quote ...yet.
On yours, Wolfie (conjugating verbs)...it sounds really familiar too. Any clues there?
:o)
Quotes - Who said them?
magrat Posted Feb 26, 2002
the conjugating verbs - does it have anything to do with The Opposite of Sex?
Quotes - Who said them?
Wolfie Posted Feb 26, 2002
Sorry, the verbs quote doesn't have anything to do with The Opposite of Sex. What clues can I give without giving it away too easily? Followers of the gourd will know the film that I'm talking about!
Cheers

The followers of the gourd are from Life of Brian. But I still can't place the quote--and I've seen Brian a few times, although not recently.

Wolfie Posted Feb 27, 2002
It is The Life of Brian. The quote comes in the scene where Brian is writing graffiti on the walls of the palace and gets caught by the guards, who then proceed to give him a grammar lesson.

Yes, of course it is!!!
Here's a quote I remembered the other day. I'll admit to no longer remembering the film name, but I can remember the premise, the actors and the scene of this quote. See how you do...
"The place I'm working in has a sign over the urinal that says 'Do not eat the big white mints.'"
(Always wanted to visit such a place!)
Also, I'm still waiting on a (further) clue on "It went away!"

re - 'it went away'
filmed in new zealand (no, magrat, not xena)
the actress speaking later married the actor the line was delivered to
does that help?

So, the only other film I can think of that fits the bill is LOrd Of The Rings, but as I haven't seen it I can't give the name of the character or anything, although I suspect the actress may be Cate Blanchett.
Here's a new one:
"Hey, how ya doin'? Did you lose weight?.....Or a limb?"

Re: it went away
Well it's not Lord of the Rings - it doesn't have that type of humour in it. And the only other kiwi film I can think of is the Piano, but it's definately not that.

re: did you lose weight? Or a limb?
ooohh i recognise that one. where it's from will be bugging me all night.
re: it went away
not lotr, it was a film made in the eighties, more of a children's movie than anything else. . .baby sent down a river a la 'moses'(if he was the one sent down a river in a basket - my knowledge of christian mythology isn't fantastic), witches, wizards, sorcerors, brownies. little people called 'daikinis', referred to insultingly as 'pecks'.

Wolfie Posted Mar 11, 2002
I've got no idea of the characters or the actors / actresses involved, though, so you'll have to tell me that.

Greetings, one and all,
Today's new quote is:
"Oh, shirts, suits, 100 million dollars. The usual sort of thing."

G'day, Wolfie.
I'm still trying on your last one "Did you lose weight...or a limb?" Sounds science fiction-ish (aliens that can afford to lose limbs). Perhaps it was MIB?
"As to Suits, shirts, $100 million", clearly a heist movie. I haven't seen Ocean's 11 (either version) so I hope it's not that. Can you tell me what they robbed as a clue?
:o)

G'day Roundley,
Nice to hear from someone again! I was beginning to think everyone had fallen off the planet.
So, what help can I give?
1. "Did you lose weight?" is from a recent film. Came out in the UK in February 2002, in the US in November 2001. More correctly, actually, its from the trailer, 'cos I haven't seen the whole film yet. I assume the line made the cut.
2. "Suits, shirts, $100 million" isn't from either version of Ocean's Eleven. Its from a film that's part heist, part adventure. I can't remember where the money was from, but it was actually stolen from a plane. I'm sure you'll get it now!
Cheers

Hey, Wolfie. Only the devoted still here!
"Did you lose weight?" Monsters, Inc. I too have only seen the trailer. Was it the Blue Monster speaking?
Finding that amount of money ($100 m) in a plane rings bells, but it wont come to the front...I'll get it shortly.
I'm also fresh out of good quotes just now. But "Albie Beck!"
