The sun: Big fiery ball of plasma visible from the other side of the world, or from just outside your office, whenever you're inside it.

sun (sn)
n.
1. A star that is the basis of the solar system and that sustains life on Earth, being the source of heat and light. It has a mean distance from Earth of about 150 million kilometers (93 million miles), a diameter of approximately 1,390,000 kilometers (864,000 miles), and a mass about 330,000 times that of Earth.
2. A star that is the center of a planetary system.
3. The radiant energy, especially heat and visible light, emitted by the sun; sunshine.

Yeah, well that's the nerdy way of putting it!
Seriously though, I see through my window that the sun is about to shine through the clouds! Maybe this'll be a beamingly jolly day after all!

...or not as the case may be. But I don't care. The heating came on in my flat yesterday, and all's right with the world.
*drains the last dregs*
Time to go. Catch you later.

Maybe if I walk around for a while, it will all come back to me. *Exits towards Magic Forest*

Hello Vladimir!
Goodbye everyone! Time for me to take my leave.
*stumbles happily out door and into the fresh sunny afternoon. (That's what I get for living in eastern Norway)

I should be gone as well, but I need a new umbrella.
Or an anti-humidity force-field. Anyone have a spareone?

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Oct 24, 2000
A few other nerdy stuff about universe:
Planet Earth has an exceptionally big moon, compared to other planets. In fact, our Moon is in size one quarter of Earth. That makes it big enough to keep Earth from wobbling while rotating.
However, the tidal waves are pushing Moon away from Earth, about 5 cm per year.
If Earth looses Moon, it WILL start wobbling. This means that one day the Equator could be in Norway, and the next day in Australia, and the North and South Pole would be moving around accordingly.
I know the humans are (together with rats) the most adaptable(?) species on Earth, but who could adapt to such rapid changes of temperature and weather?
But it seems this scenario is still far away in the distant future, and before that perhaps mankind has found another planet to live on, or found a way of anchoring Moon to Earth...
