Prayer request from Amy P

Post 1

Lady Scott

Amy P posted this in her journal, and I'm posting it here for her:

"I got a call from my aunt tonight. My grandma is dying. She was having trouble breathing (more than usual, that is--she's on oxygen already) and it got so bad that they thought it was pneumonia, and called an ambulance. The hospital wanted to keep her overnight, to check up and give treatment. Somehow (didn't ask--didn't think to ask) they found that 2 of her heart valves need to be replaced. And they can't operate. NOt sure why, but I can guess--could be because Grandma's severely underweight, or that her heart's in too bad a shape for surgery, or all-around frailness. Whatever it is, I'm guesing she wouldn't survive surgery. They don't know yet how long she's going to hold on--might know more tomorrow/later today. Don't know if she's going to have to stay in the hospital, or if she can go home and have hospice care there. Don't know if she'll still be alive when Faith and I get there. Would be surprised if I'm not attending a funeral while I'm up there.

"PRAYER REQUEST(S):

"Healing! If it's His will...

"Comfort, for us, for my Aunt Candy, for my cousin Gage (who live with Grandma) (Grandma's name is Margaret Ann Harry)

"I'm not certain if Grandma knows Christ. Tom says he remembers both Grandma and Aunt Candy saying that they are, but you know that saying, "If you were accused of being Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?" I'm afraid the answer'd be "No." I don't remember grandma ever going to church, and I spent quite a few weekends at her house for over half my life. They've been living literally next door to a church for nearly 10 years, and I don't think any of them have stepped inside (well, maybe GAge for vacation Bible school) Anyway, please pray for Grandma to either come to know Christ or to know Him better in these last days.

"For this to either bring Gage and Aunt Candy to Christ, or closer to Him.

"For courage and strength for me, and the ability to speak of God's love during this time."

Just read this. I can't read it without having to pray.

If you're talking to Amy P, tell her she's got another person praying for her here. I know what it's like to see ill grandparents.

I'm sure she'll post when she has a chance. The last info we have on her gran's condition is in her journal. (smiley - erm At least I think that's where I saw it.)

Thanks, npysmiley - smiley

i'll just copy-and-paste the update here--

Grandma had been home a day or so when we arrived, and seemed to be in a bit better shape than I was expecting (as I'm sure you'd gathered from my journal last week, I'd interpretted what Aunt Candy told me to mean that Grandma was going very quickly...) HOwever, Grandma did have trouble breathing again on Dontbry (Sunday), so she went back to the hospital again. Came back home this morning, and hospice folks will be coming daily now.

Well at least if she's home, it can be a good thing. It'll probably help her feel more comforable and aid her recovery if she's surrounded by familiar things and familiar people. And with people coming in to check ion her will help if she's not doing too well.

I'll keep praying anyway.
