smiley - ermsmiley - ermsmiley - ermDon't you like Peregrin's brief definition of what a christian believes? I would only question a tiny bit of it:

"and that He died specifically to save us from having to die for our sins; "
Does everybody agree with those words? I'm only being picky about "..having to die for our sins;". It depends what you mean about dying for your sins. We are all guilty of sin!

Jesus' sacrifice can't stop physical death (unless the End-times" come soon). But I understand it to mean Jesus saved us from a far worse state: of being separated from our dear Creator, for the rest of eternity. Perhaps that is an ultimate 'death' - the sort that may face the suicide bombers of this world?

Well thank you. I'm glad we agree on that.
Now how do you think we should spread the Good Word?

That's one of the greatest questions of them all I think. One I've struggled with myself. Have you found any good ways? I find it hard I think because I see people being put off by "Bible bashers" and street-corner preachers and the like. Not that I'm against doing stuff on the streets, but I rarely see any way of doing it well. In my town, people cross the street to avoid these men, which makes me doubt their effectiveness.

"Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Hi Npy,
I know what you mean, yes. I don't feel that going to Hyde Park Corner is much point, but then perhaps I'm a bit weak. I think you need a few people to arrange public invitation, and be single-minded about it. smiley - smiley

kzwg started a thread in ask which is very busy; "Jesus is coming back."

Funny that I've never seen anyone stop to have a chat with those guys. And a part of you has to admit that at least they're out there. But still....is all publicity good?

No, I don't think it is. But the type of public preaching that the Apostles of God used to do was definitely good.

Shame we've got things so twisted now though. Would've loved to have seen how things were in the 1st century. Probably unrecognisable by todays church in many ways.

We all have our own way of worship and preferences, but the Jehovah's witnesses have an interesting 'angle' on the early church.

I also believe the Qu'ran to be the word of God and consider myself to be Unitarian.

Unitarian? Like the Ba'hai take parts from every world religion as God's word?

Not really like Ba'hai, I'm only confident of the Bible and Qu'ran as they are the most recent knowledge that mankind seems to accept universally, and is manifest in the world.
ie. Moses, Jesus and Muhammad's teachings of Almighty God.

I really mean Unitarian in the sense that God is ONE,
and the trinity was only introduced by the Roman Church in their nicene creed >> A46646139

Ah! Christianity and Islam and Judaism all have that common thread of Abraham anyway, so it'd be no surprise that their holy books have common ground.

I've always wondered just how the three became distint and seperate since they have the same beginnings.
