It's easy to overlook this in the presence of all the new smileys - but when 
did the first Advent calendar, the surprise behind each window wasn't a new smiley for every day of the week, it was an article from the archives of which a lot of people may never have read.
So dig into The Post's archives, and enjoy the read. Hopefully you'll find a real gem in there to enjoy.

It is incredible to me that I had missed so

Post Staffers past and present have taken pains to hunt up these 'blasts from the past', and I know they're glad you're enjoying them.
Special thanks to Bel, who did the research for this year's calendar. (Which means I get a nice surprise when I put them up every night.

Of course, the point isn't whether they are glad or not - it's whether they are reading the damn things, instead of arguing over whether smilies match their Platonic ideal.

Will they do the 12 Days of Christmas for each Christmas that the H2G2 Post has been around for - not a bad idea for next year?
