A Conversation for Talking Point: Have You Ever Met Anyone Famous?

Everyone somewhere has met a celeb

I'm sure there's ton's of people who can drop big names; the 6 degrees of separation kinda make us all near enough to a celeb to bore everyone to death!

Still, not to be boring or anything... smiley - smiley here's my list of celebs I've 1st degree contact with!

David Beckham
All of the Man United team at various parties
Peter Kay (b4 he was famous)
Shane Richie (another party)
The Cheeky Girls (oh dear)- I brought them to a PR event
Danny John-Jules (Cat from Red Dwarf)
the "Bros" brothers when I was 14 and working at BBC Manchester
Julien Temple at his house while filming Pandemonium

...and with 2 degrees of separation, I've been in the same room as a bloke who was talking directly to the Gov'ner of California, Arnold Swarchenegger - he was doing a Vox Pop for the production company I was working for.

I've probably forgotten a load of others.smiley - erm

I agree. It is like that 15 minutes of fame theory. Maybe we are future celebrities. Who knows?

Some of the people I've had brushes with are as follows:
(Some encounters including actual brief touches and some included brief conversations.)

Jackie Onassis
Paul McCartney (and very very close proximity to the other Beatles due to stupid police lines. haha My favorite Beatle was John Lennon and I married my first (English) husband because he reminded me of John; huge mistake.)
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel
Hal Holbrook
John Lithgow
David Bowie
Muddy Waters
Granny D (Doris Haddock)
Mary Bailey
Buckminster Fuller
Wanda Sykes

Odd group, right?

OK, so this is where we reel off a quick list then?

- Jimmy Saville (I was on Jim'll fix it - not saying why... too embarrassing).
- Gordon Jackson (in a lift - didn't get his autograph)
- Mike Oldfield (in the same lift - _did_ get his autograph)
- Chris Hughton (ran out of McDonalds as I was going in)
- Clive Anderson (almost ran him over as I pulled out of a side turning in Islington - he wasn't too pleased)
- Nicki Lauda (at a JaguarF1/HSBC press conference in the same building I worked in at Cannon St - he elbowed me in the arm to get past in the crowd)
- Robert Llewellyn (in Tesco - can't remember which aisle)

Here's my list:

*Philip Schofield (got a photo and everything! Lost the autograph though smiley - sadface)
*Ricardo Zonta (read my other thread)
*Various athletes (ditto)
*I know someone who hugged Damon Hill and shook Eddie Jordan's hand and worked at Jordan for 2 weeks
*My uncle was mates with Tiff Needel who slept in the bed that was to become my bed once.
*My mum tripped over Sonia once (you remember, the tiny red-haired pop star that wasn't lulu?)

Think that's about it...

If you count famous classical musicians, then: Vladimir Ashkenazy, Anton Kuerti and Boris Berezovsky. smiley - magic Took pictures with both; talked to Ash about the cold he was having. Kuerti was actually a friend of my friend Fred's, so I actually got *introduced* to him. And Berezovsky, the cheeky b*stard... Just before they took the picture, he said brightly, 'Smile!', and dug his fingers into my side.(needless to say, the camera caught me in mid-squirm smiley - erm). ... smiley - rofl 'Million-dollar fingers!' my friend Tycho cried out later.

I met loads, don't ask, mainly musicians 'cos i was a photographer at punk gigs in the 1980's.

Dingleblade, URGENT, i see you just joined h2g2, until you put something on your personal space, it's pretty difficult to contact you. I am an ACE and supposed to know about these things, i have cheated a bit and copied this below, do feel free to get back to me if you have any questions; welcome to h2g2
